Paté
Paté is a Dareu elf and one of Yu IlHan’s original four traveling retainers. An archer whose attributes emphasize strength and agility, he becomes compatible with the epic bow Deathgod’s Trajectory. Killing and raising a higher existence through that weapon leads to the fourth-class Destiny Archer path, after which he develops control over undead and later becomes a fifth-class Dragon’s Nest dragon known as the god of all dead beings.
Biography
The emperor’s archer
Paté joins IlHan after the dragon war as a level-86 second-class archer, one of four high-level elves selected to accompany their new emperor while the rest rebuild Dareu. He trains with Mirey, Jirl, and Phiria, receives equipment, and adapts from defending a ruined world to fighting beside Earth’s rapidly growing forces. (Chapters 102–108)
By the Battle of Competition he has reached third class and level 134. IlHan entrusts him with the epic Deathgod’s Trajectory, whose requirements include an archer main class and more than 250 strength and agility. Paté’s attribute distribution barely satisfies the restriction because he has emphasized those two statistics rather than health. (Chapter 143)
The bow makes him a decisive ranged controller in the competition. His arrows trouble opponents above his level, and he achieves the best performance among IlHan’s subordinates in the opening match. The result depends on both personal archery and an artifact unusually suited to a death-aligned wielder; it is not evidence that every elf archer can reproduce the same effect. (Chapters 143–145)
Cataclysms and deathgod power
Paté fights alongside Mirey, Jirl, Phiria, and wolfkin during the Abandoned World campaign. Front-line fighters hold monsters while his bow controls approach routes and punishes targets that break formation. Later, the ability of Deathgod’s Trajectory to raise enemies killed by its arrows helps Dareu survive repeated Cataclysms by converting casualties on the hostile side into additional defenders. (Chapters 139, 183, 229–233)
After Phiria’s death, Paté contains his grief long enough to focus the elves on the higher-existence intruder responsible. His calm is operational rather than indifference: once IlHan confirms the threat, Paté’s anger helps turn confusion into readiness for vengeance. He accepts further training and remains one of the senior elves trusted to act without constant direction. (Chapters 230–234)
Paté’s decisive class change occurs when an arrow kills a higher existence and the bow raises the corpse as undead. The achievement exceeds his original fourth-class quest. He becomes a Destiny Archer, gaining increased resistance to death, greater ruling power, and the ability to wield dead souls and undead to inflict greater damage. His own records also evolve the bow from Epic to Chaos rank. (Chapter 240)
Dragon’s Nest
Paté continues using undead against enemies above his league, including as protection during the Legnae battle. He can spread a corrosion curse to restrict movement and commit controlled undead to attacks while remaining behind them. These tactics make him useful even when direct arrows cannot safely pierce a target. (Chapter 303)
He enters Dragon’s Nest and becomes a fifth-class true dragon. At that stage he can control undead of sixth class and above, and IlHan entrusts him with unused higher-existence corpses for Earth’s defense. The strength comes through a combination of Destiny Archer authority, evolved equipment, dragon league, and prepared bodies; it is not spontaneous creation of dead servants from nothing. (Chapters 316, 321–325)
In later peace Paté is called the god of all dead beings. He and Mirfa have a daughter, Irena, who inherits deathgod mana. The divine title establishes mature authority over the dead but does not erase his continued identity as an archer and IlHan’s exuberantly devoted retainer. (Extra Chapter 3; Chapter 366)
Appearance and personality
Paté is a male elf with fine, feminine features, an appearance especially remarked upon when tears gather after receiving the epic bow. Later material emphasizes that he dresses glamorously and has deep purple eyes. (Chapter 143; Chapter 366)
In combat and crisis he is composed, disciplined, precise, and quick to focus a group on the next necessary action. Outside battle he is theatrical about his devotion to IlHan and comfortable with feminine presentation. The contrast is consistent rather than contradictory: battlefield calm coexists with emotionally extravagant loyalty. (Chapters 143–145, 231–233, 240; Chapter 366)
Abilities and classes
Archery and ranged control
Paté’s main class is archer, with attributes concentrated in strength and agility rather than health. Strength supports the draw and impact required by high-grade bows, while agility supports aim, attack speed, and battlefield repositioning. From behind Mirey, Jirl, and Flemir, he controls approaching monsters and targets opponents the front line cannot safely chase. (Chapters 102, 139, 143–145)
Range is also a limitation. Paté depends on allies to stop enemies from reaching him and on arrows or a compatible bow to deliver his power. Higher durability can resist ordinary shots, and close pressure reduces his opportunity to aim. His best results occur in a balanced formation. (Chapters 139, 145, 240, 303)
Deathgod’s Trajectory and undead raising
Deathgod’s Trajectory is an epic bow restricted to a third-class archer with very high strength and agility. Arrows fired from it can revive a target they kill as an undead ally. The effect even works on a higher existence and remains valuable during Cataclysms because every successful kill can reduce enemy numbers while adding a defender. (Chapters 143, 183, 233, 240)
The corpse must first be killed by the bow’s arrow, so the effect does not give Paté control of every dead being nearby at this stage. The undead also require direction. The artifact evolves to Chaos rank only after Paté’s records produce a Destiny Archer achievement beyond his assigned quest. (Chapter 240)
Destiny Archer, curses, and soul command
Destiny Archer increases death resistance and ruling power by fifty percent and lets Paté wield dead souls and undead to increase damage. He can reshape a raised higher existence into a more combat-oriented form, spread a corrosion curse to restrain enemies, and send undead into coordinated attacks. (Chapters 240, 303)
Command strength scales with class, record, and available undead. In the Legnae battle his higher-existence undead protect the party, but he is not in condition to attack freely, showing that control and survival can consume his attention. “Accompaniment to hell” uses prepared undead and curse pressure rather than creating unlimited bodies. (Chapter 303)
Fifth-class dragon and divine authority
After joining Dragon’s Nest, Paté becomes a fifth-class true dragon. His higher-existence league lets him control undead of sixth class and above, and IlHan supplies stored corpses as a defensive army. By then he is one of the faction’s strongest members outside its seventh-class core. (Chapters 316, 321)
Later narration calls him god of all dead beings, and his daughter inherits deathgod mana. The corpus does not provide a complete mechanics list for this mature divine title, so its reliable continuation is enhanced authority over souls and undead—not an inferred ability to resurrect any person intact or command every death everywhere. (Extra Chapter 3; Chapter 366)
