Caeli is a Stygian Cult operative who infiltrates Keandra Tylenn's adventuring team with her brother, Caeden. Her staged search for a kidnapped Caeden helps draw adventurers into Limgrell, direct the missing-person investigation, and lure the group into the cult's underground base. (Chapters 275–314)

Biography

The Tower to Picking up the Pieces

Caeli first meets Kai Tylenn in an ancient tower within the Lake of Myst. Suspicious that his sudden arrival is a trick or an enemy operation, she holds him at rapier point until Mari's judgment helps settle the encounter. When Kai proposes fighting their way through the cloud fairies, Caeli eagerly joins him and Niel. She later cuts Kai out of a fairy-made ice prison with a flaming aura and attacks beside the others, helping the trapped adventurers reunite with Keandra. At this stage she presents herself as an impulsive but protective teammate searching for Caeden, whom the group believes has been abducted. (Chapters 275–277)

That public role continues through the Limgrell inquiry. Caeli presses the team to act against apparently corrupt officials, argues against abandoning the search, helps identify routes and tracks, and repeatedly invokes the need to rescue her brother. Her urgency eventually takes the group through a concealed entrance and into the cult's base, where she appears to find Caeden bound in a cell. Once she cuts him free, their exchange reveals that the rescue is staged, and the prepared runic circle incapacitates their companions. The trap converts the trust Caeli cultivated over months of shared meals, hunting, training, and investigation into captives for the cult. (Chapters 283–298)

After Kai escapes, he and the others reconstruct Caeli's part in the operation: Caeli and Caeden had joined Keandra's team before Limgrell, used their apparent search to make the contract seem credible, and kept the investigation moving toward a controlled conclusion. Caeli later confirms the essential deception herself. She says the cult needed naïve adventurers to parade around Limgrell and considered the same teammates suitable material once their usefulness ended; in her view, the plan was never a betrayal because it had been false from the beginning. She offers no remorse, only the claim that surrender would have earned them a painless death. (Chapters 302–313)

Caeli then leads cult fighters against the escaping prisoners and orders them to capture the group, allowing killing or maiming if they resist. She avoids the first clash behind the cult's stronger front line, kills a wounded escapee who reaches her, and turns on Keandra after the cult caster Moria dies. Caeden asks her to stop, but she blames both him and Keandra for the failed operation and advances with the familiar opening jab she used in their sparring. Niel tackles her before she can finish Keandra; in the struggle, he drives a dagger through Caeli's heart while her rapier mortally wounds him below the sternum. (Chapters 313–316)

Appearance and personality

Caeli is introduced as a girl of about eighteen with delicate pale features, sharp eyebrows, dark hair tied in a ponytail, and a rapier. The corpus is inconsistent about her eye color, describing her eyes as blue in the tower and brown during the lake search. Her public persona is fiery, blunt, competitive, impatient, and openly fond of Hobbes; she appears protective of teammates and especially emotional about Caeden. The later reveal makes the extent of those feelings unknowable, because Keandra concludes that the righteous adventurer she knew was a fiction. Kai observes Caeli, Niel, and Mari at the peak of Orange race with professions in the mid-to-high levels when they meet. In the final cavern battle she carries an enchanted dark-steel rapier, kills a wounded escapee, and approaches Keandra with a practiced opening jab. The text does not supply a name, grade, cost, duration, or range for the fiery effect, nor does it state how much of the ice-breaking force comes from the aura, the weapon, or a Guide skill. Caeli sustains a months-long false friendship, participates in the team's inquiries, tracks signs through dark tunnels, remembers the underground layout, and steers decisions by turning urgency and guilt into pressure. These are demonstrated operational strengths, but no Guide skill is named for deception, tracking, or memory. The Stygian Cult also prepares runic traps and a field that suppresses mana and most skills after learning how Kai's danger sense affects the search.
