Adol Luph
Adol Luph is a demon earl of Grand Duke Upa's faction and the original master of the Japanese dungeon later captured by Randalph Brigsiel. His confidence in numerical superiority and in the artificial creature Ornish leads him to underestimate the invasion. Randalph defeats and kills him, after which Guyo changes masters and the dungeon passes to Randalph.
Biography
Fall of the Japanese dungeon
Adol governs a creature-heavy dungeon and seeks standing within Upa's faction, but his abusive relationship with Guyo makes his own warning system unreliable: the fairy lies habitually after repeated mistreatment, then cannot persuade him when a genuine invasion begins. Even after a modified crystal ball confirms Randalph's rapid advance, Adol assumes thousands of creatures and Ornish will overcome a smaller elite force. His motive is political as well as defensive, since delivering Randalph's head would restore prestige to Upa after the auction dispute. The strategy fails when Randalph's creatures break through Adol's army and reach the Dungeon Master himself. (Chapters 48–54)
Randalph is substantially stronger in direct comparison and deliberately attacks Adol's faith in Upa before the duel. Adol enlarges his muscles through Body Manipulation and fights back, but Randalph cuts his throat and receives the first-demon-kill achievement. Ornish attempts to carry out its master's last command and is also killed. With Adol dead, Randalph claims the dungeon, and Guyo chooses a second and final demon contract rather than disappear with the old core. (Chapters 48–54)
Appearance and personality
The corpus does not establish Adol's ordinary facial features, clothing, or build in detail. During battle, Body Manipulation makes his muscles expand and visibly transforms his body. (Chapters 48–54)
Adol is arrogant, abusive, and overconfident. He dismisses Guyo's repeated warnings, blames the fairy for his own refusal to listen, and trusts numbers and Dungeon Master authority to compensate for a clear gap in personal strength. His loyalty to Upa is described as blind, and the prospect of improving his status within the faction encourages him to engage Randalph instead of reconsidering the defense. (Chapters 48–54)
Abilities and powers
Life Combination
Adol's Life Combination skill lets him construct a new organism from creature parts. Ornish combines the skin and tendons of a giant troll, an orc lord's heart, gargoyle wings, and a unicorn horn, producing an advanced creature with exceptional regeneration. The creation is powerful but unstable, consumes much of Adol's resources, and remains dependent on his command. (Chapters 48–54)
Body Manipulation
Body Manipulation allows Adol to transform his own physique, demonstrated when his muscles grow during the duel. The source does not specify additional forms or a precise increase, and the enhancement is insufficient to close the gap with Randalph. (Chapters 48–54)
Dungeon Master authority
As Dungeon Master, Adol can direct dungeon creatures and believes his magic can control the unstable Ornish directly. A modified crystal ball lets him inspect invaders whom Domestic Mode does not reveal in detail. These advantages depend on the dungeon and its tools; they do not prevent a superior force from reaching and killing him. (Chapters 48–54)
Relationships
- Randalph Brigsiel: Adol hopes to win Upa's favor by killing Randalph, but Randalph invades his dungeon and kills him instead.
- Guyo: Adol routinely curses and mistreats his fairy, destroying the trust needed when Guyo gives a genuine warning; after his death, Guyo accepts Randalph as master.
- Upa Bullenon: Adol follows the grand duke with blind confidence and interprets the invasion as a chance to repair Upa's prestige.
Items
- Modified crystal ball: A costly device that displays conditions throughout the dungeon and compensates for Adol's distrust of Guyo's reports.
- Ornish: Adol's artificial advanced creature, assembled through Life Combination and killed shortly after him.
