Enchanted Spiked Knee Pads of the Munificent Goddess Kina

The Enchanted Spiked Knee Pads of the Munificent Goddess Kina are unique divine armor awarded to Katia. They combine melee reflection, aquatic benefits, and item- and corpse-consumption skills with variable deity-proximity effects, then pass through Donut to Penelope for the final arena plan.

History

Celestial-box award and Katia's use

Katia receives the knee pads from a Celestial Who-Let-The-Gods-Out Box awarded after the attack on Club Vanquisher. A broadcast identifies them as both unique and divine and describes their material as the eyelashes of the sea goddess Kina. Commentators assume the reward is meant to replace Carl's older knee pads, but Katia has already left the item in the guild and does not give it to him. (Chapter 359)

Before transferring the pads, Katia exploits their level-10 Iron Stomach skill. The skill destroys swallowed magical items and can permanently increase Intelligence; at level ten it works at a one-item-to-one-point ratio and allows cursed items without ill effects. Because Katia can enlarge her Doppelganger body enough to swallow bulky equipment whole, she consumes disposable magical objects and gains twenty Intelligence before the process becomes too much. She then unequips and gives away the pads as she prepares to leave the dungeon. (Chapter 359)

Donut and Penelope

Katia gives the knee pads to Donut, and the divine armor resizes to fit her. Donut wears them during the trap for Huanxin Jinx, where she receives a 500 percent Eileithyia-related bonus against the sponsor and another 500 percent through her party connection to Carl. She notes that she does not receive Carl's associated gender-based debuff. The scene demonstrates a variable divine effect, not a permanent 1,000 percent bonus against all enemies. (Chapter 391)

For the eleventh-floor arena plan, Donut transfers the pads to Penelope. They give the pig underwater breathing and the same temporary deity-proximity effects as Carl's Scavenger's Daughter patch, allowing Penelope to act as the protected target in the confrontation among Emberus, Taranis, and Khepri. Penelope is devastated by Emberus's redirected attack but remains alive and is restored by Taranis. The pads are last explicitly confirmed on her immediately before that confrontation; the scene does not separately confirm their condition afterward. (Chapters 491–492)

Abilities and properties

• Reflect 25 percent of melee damage while equipped. The description does not extend this percentage to ranged or magical attacks. (Chapter 359)
• Grant the Breathe Underwater benefit and level-15 Swim, providing both respiration and high swimming proficiency. (Chapters 359 and 491)
• Grant level-10 Iron Stomach. At that level, swallowing one magical item can permanently add one Intelligence point, destroys the consumed item, and permits cursed magical items without harmful effects. The eater must still physically swallow the object. (Chapter 359)
• Grant level-10 Eater of the Dead. Consuming enough qualifying corpse mass permanently raises Constitution, Strength, or Dexterity at random; the mass threshold falls with skill level, and more corpses are required than magical items under Iron Stomach. (Chapter 359)
• As a divine item, the pads grant varying benefits or debuffs near divine entities. Effects are generally comparable to other divine items but may be stronger in the presence of Kina or her enemies. The corpus does not demonstrate a meeting with Kina. (Chapter 359)
• Multiple divine items do not automatically double the same proximity benefit; the stronger effect applies unless an explicit exception or prepared matched set says otherwise. (Chapter 359)
• The Huanxin and Penelope scenes demonstrate that proximity effects depend on the deity, enemy relationship, wearer, party interaction, and circumstance. They are not stable base statistics. (Chapters 391 and 491)

Ownership and custody
