Huanxin Jinx
Huanxin Jinx is a wealthy grixist heiress, CEO of Icon Industries, and recurring sponsor of the goddess Eileithyia. Her old bargain with Odette helps cause Uzzi's death, while her later offer to “save” Katia is designed to recruit a powerful Ascendancy asset and gain revenge. Donut ultimately uses a rules exploit to pull her from the goddess and kill her. (Chapters 221, 251, 293, 360, 391)
Biography
The Eighth Floor and Bedlam
Huanxin first enters the chronology through Odette's management of Mordecai. She drives Dodola and demands an increasing percentage to intervene in a two-god crisis; when Odette evades the price by manipulating Chaco, Huanxin loses the bargain and becomes a lasting enemy. Uzzi's death and the illegal negotiation tie both women to Mordecai's hatred. (Chapter 221)
Huanxin later offers Katia protection on the twelfth floor if Carl secures Odette as adjutant and the group obtains the required orchid. The deal could remove Katia from the crown's forced dilemma, but it also advances Huanxin's two explicit goals: winning the Ascendancy throne and retaliating against Odette. Carl's group completes much of the setup before rejecting reliance on her word. (Chapters 251, 293)
Faction Wars at Larracos
Huanxin drives Eileithyia in the Celestial Ascendancy and arrives to collect Katia after the ninth floor, insulting Victory and threatening Carl and Donut when Katia hesitates. Donut exploits the sponsored-god choice freeze to tear Huanxin from Eileithyia's soul armor. Trapped inside anti-teleport and anti-magic words, Huanxin loses her technological shields and is killed by a crossbow bolt containing Mordecai's mother's ashes. (Chapters 360, 391)
Appearance and personality
Huanxin is a thin-necked, hairy grixist with six eyes. She is fabulously wealthy, impatient, insulting, and accustomed to converting danger into a priced transaction. Her confidence becomes panic and rage once extracted from divine protection, revealing how heavily her authority depends on institutional and technological insulation. (Chapters 221, 334, 391)
Skills, class, and abilities
As Eileithyia's sponsor and driver, Huanxin can inhabit a level-250 goddess whose presence grants female allies greatly increased melee power and reduces damage against women. The goddess is invulnerable on the ninth floor under summoning rules, and soul armor protects the driver. These powers are conditional: a boon-choice freeze immobilizes Eileithyia, Laundry Day extracts Huanxin, and anti-magic words stop her escape. Outside the armor, she relies on technological shields and a ring that fails inside the trap. (Chapter 391)
Relationships
- Odette: Their failed bargain during Mordecai's season becomes a personal and political feud expressed through competing Ascendancy sponsorships. (Chapters 221, 257, 293)
- Katia: Huanxin offers Katia protection but treats her as a recruit and leverage against Odette. Katia ultimately chooses another exit rather than submit to the deal. (Chapters 251, 293, 391)
- Mordecai: Huanxin's role in Uzzi's death makes her a target of Mordecai's revenge; his prepared bolt delivers the final attack through Donut's weapon. (Chapters 221, 391)
- Donut: Donut exposes the conditional nature of Huanxin's god-driving power and kills her after rejecting the claim that exploitation counts as rescue. (Chapter 391)
Items
Huanxin has no planned inventory-item links. Her technological shields, escape ring, and Eileithyia soul armor protect her until the trap suppresses or separates them; Donut loots her body after death. (Chapter 391)
