Miriam Dom
Miriam Dom is an Italian Shepherd who enters the dungeon with a herd of goats and becomes guardian to Prepotente. A producer-imposed vampire curse turns her into the unwilling progenitor of a spreading outbreak, and she chooses death in sunlight to cure the infected. (Chapters 74, 106, 129, 191–192)
Biography
The Circus and the Iron Tangle
Miriam becomes a top-ranked crawler while caring for Prepotente and Bianca as a family rather than disposable pets. Her gentle authority restrains Pony's anger, and her Shepherd magic supports a debuff strategy capable of knocking a province boss unconscious long enough for the goats to extend the effect. (Chapters 74, 77, 106, 113)
The Gate of the Feral Gods
The fifth-floor showrunners curse the formerly vegan Miriam with vampirism for irony, but she continues fighting alongside Prepotente. She helps confront the enormous turkey feral god through coordinated debuffs and survives into the next floor with the curse made permanent under the title Princess of Hell. (Chapters 129, 142, 191)
The Hunting Grounds and the Masquerade
Miriam rescues and nurses Carl after a battle, later asking him to save the paralyzed Prepotente while she holds off vampires and dinosaurs. She realizes her infection has made her the progenitor of an expanding crisis: Tina and other infected creatures will be cured if Miriam dies before the curse matures. Choosing the larger group over herself, she lets sunlight burn her to ash, curing thousands and ending the living vampirism even though the undead creations remain. (Chapters 150, 188–192)
The Eighth Floor and Bedlam
Miriam's earlier battles continue to inform the coalition's understanding of feral gods and divine marks. References to using Carl's ring on her and to the turkey she and Prepotente defeated are memories of her sacrifice and methods, not evidence that she survived. (Chapters 262, 281)
Faction Wars at Larracos
Prepotente carries Miriam's manners and concern for dependents into the ninth floor, apologizing and offering salve in a way that recalls her parenting. Her influence persists in him even as he fights without her. (Chapter 326)
The Parade of Horribles
The eleventh floor reveals more of Miriam's pre-crawl life and goat husbandry. She had stopped using enhanced pet biscuits after one transformed goat killed several others, showing that even before the later crises she adjusted when an upgrade endangered her herd. A memory simulation shows her alone at a New York piano, expanding the person behind the Shepherd identity without reversing her death. (Chapters 410, 472)
Appearance and personality
Miriam is about forty, slightly plump, dark-haired, and carries a shepherd's crook. She speaks with a gentle Italian accent and combines maternal patience with formidable resolve. Vampirism changes her race and needs but not her care for Prepotente or her willingness to accept responsibility for others. (Chapters 106, 150, 191)
Skills, class, and abilities
As a Shepherd, Miriam coordinates animal companions and applies powerful disabling effects that Prepotente can extend. She also supplies specialized Size-Up potions that reveal mob information. Vampirism adds strength, spells, contagion, and the Princess of Hell title, but creates lethal sunlight vulnerability and makes her death the cure for recent infections. (Chapters 113, 152, 191–192, 214)
Relationships
- Prepotente: Miriam raises and protects Prepotente as “Pony,” while he amplifies her debuffs and remains devastated by her sacrifice. (Chapters 106, 113, 192–195)
- Bianca: Bianca is part of Miriam's goat family and transports the group, including during Carl's rescue. (Chapters 77, 150, 188)
- Carl: Miriam saves and heals Carl, then trusts him to understand why her death is necessary to cure the outbreak. (Chapters 150, 188–192)
Items
Miriam has no planned inventory-item links. Her shepherd's staff and Size-Up potions support her role, while the enhanced pet biscuits mentioned later remain with Prepotente rather than in Miriam's posthumous custody. (Chapters 106, 214, 410)
