Jurgen

Jurgen is a large barbarian crawler whose impatience at the eighth-floor stairwell becomes valuable decisiveness in Faction Wars. As commander of the 105th Scream Warriors, he commits to protecting the coalition and later risks the eleventh-floor races rather than accept an easy exit. (Chapters 283–285, 320, 367, 383)

Biography

The Eighth Floor and Bedlam

Jurgen doubts Carl's improvised mass-escape plan but refuses to wait while other key holders block the exit. He breaks the stairwell enclosure, gets pulled into a card battle with Osvaldo, and then works with the same rival to clear rubble. The impulsive choice narrows everyone's options but also turns argument into the physical work needed for escape. (Chapters 283–285)

Faction Wars at Larracos

Jurgen becomes colonel and later leader of the 105th Scream Warriors, bringing his half-strength battalion into Carl's revised operations. He declares himself ready to fight alongside Heidi and is known as someone who will not take a deal while Lucia and endangered children remain at risk, even though he barely knows her. His loyalty is principled and sometimes reckless. (Chapters 320, 367, 383)

The Parade of Horribles

Jurgen's comic enthusiasm for meat on a stick contrasts with Prepotente's concern for his health, showing the friendships formed in the coalition. He enters the final races with Prepotente, fights from the RV roof, and survives the closing crash. Imani treats him while he sits up dazed, leaving him injured but alive at collapse. (Chapters 408, 474, 492, 494)

Appearance and personality

Jurgen is a large, blond barbarian man. He is direct, warm, impulsive, and intensely loyal to people he decides need protection. He can quarrel in one moment and cooperate in the next, and he expresses affection openly, including kissing Carl on both cheeks before a transition. (Chapters 283–285, 383, 391)

Skills, class, and abilities

Jurgen's barbarian build supports frontline strength and durability, while his battalion role gives him command of the Scream Warriors. He can participate in card battles and violent vehicle combat, but the corpus does not name a complete class skill set or numeric level. His impulsiveness and willingness to absorb danger are tactical liabilities as well as sources of courage. (Chapters 285, 320, 492–494)

• Prepotente: Prepotente races and fights beside Jurgen, scolds him over food safety, and asks others to tend Jurgen before himself after the crash. (Chapters 408, 474, 494)
• Lucia Mar: Jurgen's determination not to abandon Lucia or the children motivates his refusal to take a deal, despite no close prior relationship. (Chapter 383)
• Osvaldo: They begin the eighth-floor exit as card-battle rivals and become partners clearing the broken stairwell. (Chapters 283–285)
