Origin Bone Scepter

The Origin Bone Scepter, also called the Origin Bone Staff, is a Ravager national relic fashioned from the physicalized thoughts within a Shining Dragon skull fragment. It combines weakened divination with time-based combat abilities and becomes one of Su Chen’s most important research tools after he steals it from the Inferno Tribe.

History

From Shining Dragon relic to Ravager regalia

The relic originates in the core of a Shining Dragon’s skull. Its substance is not ordinary bone but the physical essence of the dead Origin Beast’s thoughts, infused into a bone fragment. On the Divine Shrine’s altar it can form an ethereal connection with Bone Diviners, who exchange their lives for answers about the past or future. No physical contact is required, but the altar is necessary for this original mode of communion. (Chapter 701)

Barnard stole the relic when he rejected Sorna Redeagle’s rule and founded the Ironbone Tribe. Cut off from the Divine Shrine, the tribe spent nearly a century converting it into a weapon: they embedded the Origin Crystal of a time-controlling Demonic Emperor and added time Origin Skills. This gave the scepter combat value while weakening its strategic divination. After the Ironbone Tribe’s destruction, the Divine Shrine and imperial family compromised over custody: the shrine normally kept it for divination, while the emperor carried it for ceremonies and campaigns as a symbol of authority. Theft from the Inferno Tribe

While disguised as Lontu, Su Chen exploits Anubi’s vanity and a Beast attack to put the real scepter aboard an exposed imperial carriage. He presents a genuine command medallion to its guards and receives the scepter from Le Feng, who is acting as the emperor’s substitute. Su Chen escapes with it, and the Ravagers subsequently record the scepter as lost. (Chapters 713–718 and 723)

Research and strategic use

Su Chen primarily uses the scepter to accelerate research. Rather than asking whether an experiment will succeed, he can view the successful work he would eventually perform and reproduce the remembered procedure earlier. Gu Qingluo witnesses this process while he investigates the Gu Clan’s curses, and the resulting predictions let him bypass repeated trial and error. He later consults the scepter before dangerous operations, treating it as a safeguard against unforeseen events. (Chapters 701, 750, and 887)

The scepter remains a recurring strategic resource through the later conflicts. Its latest explicit comparison to the Lord of Time’s divine tool still describes it as Su Chen’s possession and emphasizes that even such foresight cannot freely reach matters involving overwhelmingly powerful beings. No return to the Ravagers or transfer to another owner is recorded. (Chapter 1147)

Abilities and properties

• Temporal divination: The scepter can reveal past or future information. Its most efficient predictions concern truths or outcomes the user could eventually discover within their lifetime; Su Chen uses this property to move future research breakthroughs forward in time. (Chapters 701 and 750)
• Sacrificial cost: Answers require suitable offerings. Bone Diviners historically paid with their lives, while Su Chen uses corpses, Origin Crystals, and other valuable sources. More difficult or changeable questions demand higher-quality sacrifices. (Chapters 701, 750, 752, and 755)
• Stable outcomes cost less: A prediction becomes cheaper when the user follows it without changing the foretold event. Questions that would alter the future, especially warnings of danger, are correspondingly more expensive and uncertain. (Chapters 752 and 766)
• Limits on foresight: The scepter does not make the future immutable. It gives vague or costly answers when events are highly changeable, and it cannot effectively predict matters centered on individuals whose power exceeds its reach. (Chapters 701, 766, and 1147)
• Time-based combat functions: The Ironbone Tribe’s embedded Demonic Emperor Origin Crystal grants time Origin Skills, but this modification reduced the relic’s divining strength. The corpus does not provide a complete named list of those combat techniques. (Chapter 701)
