Zhang Zhongyue

Zhang Zhongyue is a sixth-year Hidden Dragon Institute student recruited by Bai Ou to kill Su Chen. His veteran blade skills and Clear Wind Dragonhound bloodline make him a dangerous Qi Drawing opponent, but Su's prepared allies capture him. He then becomes one of Su's unwilling research subjects and suffers severe treatment side effects while his clan attempts to raise a ransom. (Chapters 183–188)

Biography

Attack at Red Cloud Slope

Zhang arrives with Bai Ou, Bai Yihong, Yu Zhen, and Liu Hua, confidently identifies himself as Su's killer, and opens with blade Qi. He initially pressures Iron Cliff through speed and veteran technique, but Su has arranged an ambush with Immortal Temple allies. Zhang activates his Clear Wind Dragonhound bloodline and regains confidence during the group fight, only to fall after the opposing Blood Boiling experts stop holding back. (Chapters 183–185)

After capture, Zhang demands a one-on-one fight and is kicked by Iron Cliff. Su refuses to release the attackers, feeds them Qi Obstructing Powder, and states that they will cooperate with experiments. Zhang's clan connection does not protect him because the attack was unofficial and his household stewards initially try to solve the disappearance without alerting the senior clan leadership. (Chapter 185)

Experimental captivity

Su subjects Zhang to consciousness medicines and repeated treatment. A Heart Failure Medicine administered after Soul-Fixation leaves him unconscious; four revival methods save him but produce slack-jawed immobility and drooling. Su continues trying to repair those effects while also conditioning his fear and memory. By Chapter 188, Zhang can show excitement at possible release and utter a few words, but remains captive, panicked, and medically impaired. His actual release or later fate is not shown. (Chapters 187–188)

Appearance and personality

Zhang is a young, blade-wielding student. The corpus does not provide stable details for his face, clothing, hair, height, or build. His later slack-jawed posture and impaired speech are consequences of experimentation rather than his original appearance. (Chapters 183–188)

He is arrogant, aggressive, proud of seniority, and less strategically perceptive than Yu Zhen. He assumes the younger Su will be easy to kill, recovers confidence too quickly when the group temporarily holds its ground, and still demands a fair duel after being captured in an assassination attempt. Prolonged experimentation replaces that bravado with terror and hopelessness. (Chapters 183–188)

Abilities and cultivation

Zhang is a sixth-year Qi Drawing Realm student with the Clear Wind Dragonhound bloodline. The Institute's instruction and his prior visits to Falling Eagle Mountain give his blade work battlefield-honed force. He can project blade Qi capable of sundering boulders, release thirteen rapid strikes, and move backward as lightly and quickly as the wind. (Chapters 183–184)

His named techniques are Autumn Drizzle Blade and Drifting Dark Extermination Palm, which he launches together while pressuring Iron Cliff. Activating the Clear Wind Dragonhound bloodline releases powerful energy and supports his wind-aligned combat, but the corpus does not separately explain its origin, full set of effects, energy cost, or maximum duration. He is strong enough that Iron Cliff should not continue alone, yet cannot overcome a coordinated group including Blood Boiling experts. (Chapters 184–185)

Zhang's later medical condition is not cultivation progression. Soul-Fixation, Heart Failure Medicine, revival attempts, and White Teeth Medicine are imposed experimental effects. They leave him alive but unable to demonstrate a stable latest combat state. (Chapters 187–188)

• Su Chen: Zhang's intended victim, captor, and experimenter. Su defeats the assassination group through preparation and uses Zhang for bloodline, medicine, and consciousness research. (Chapters 183–188)
• Iron Cliff: Zhang's initial battlefield opponent. Zhang's speed and blade arts exceed Iron Cliff's skill in a prolonged duel, but Iron Cliff blocks his opening attacks and later punishes his post-capture challenge. (Chapters 184–185)
