Silence

Silence is a low-status but exceptionally dangerous Spirit Race wanderer whose research joins consciousness enslavement to an attempt to replace the Spirit Race’s lost means of reproduction. He traps An Siyuan, Ji Hanyan, and their companions in an illusion realm, but Su Chen exposes the deception and ultimately has Patelocke consume him. This individual is distinct from ordinary uses of the word “silence,” Wind Silence Breach, and the ancient Immortal who later identifies himself as Silence.

Biography

Consciousness enslavement and reproductive research

As a young Spirit Race individual, Silence accidentally discovers that a failed subject of the Consciousness Converter Instrument remains alive but unusually receptive to mental suggestion. He turns that victim into a permanent consciousness slave and recognizes that incomplete conversion can still make members of other races easier to control. Centuries later, he is a solitary wanderer pursuing a larger racial objective: recovering the function of the Reproductive Temple by finding substitutes for the missing Birth Mothers, with humans among his experimental materials. He spends nearly a thousand years building a laboratory and accumulating research, but an experiment on a Darkness Crystal detonates three years before his confrontation with Su Chen, injuring him and scattering records and materials downriver. Unwilling to abandon that work, he directs Wei Liancheng and other controlled humans toward the lost remnants, which eventually allows the authorities to trace the disappearances back to his new laboratory. The laboratory illusion and final deception

When the pursuing humans arrive, Silence receives them with the composure of a host and then exploits their expectation of a physical battle. His large illusion formation creates a cavern, a regenerating Crystal Labyrinth, impossible attacks, and exaggerated versions of everyone’s own techniques while real vines kill the weakest victims one at a time. Su Chen notices that Silence never attacks the strongest people and proves the environment false by using an unfinished technique that the illusion can reproduce only from his expectations. Once the boundary is shattered, Silence loses the advantage that had let a low-status Spirit Race individual appear stronger than An Siyuan, but he continues resisting with a controlled serpent, mental manipulation, servants, and escape techniques. The group apparently destroys him, only for Su Chen to recognize that Silence has hidden a reduced remnant of himself inside Wei Xiaofeng’s corpse. Silence tries first to overpower Su Chen, then to bargain and seize him through a fraudulent memory transfer. Su Chen anticipates the attempt and releases Patelocke, whose specter form consumes Silence. What survives is not Silence’s agency but fragments of his knowledge: Patelocke recovers many Ancient Arcana Techniques and research insights, and Su Chen uses the battle’s lessons to strengthen Fata Morgana. Appearance and personality

Silence retains the tall, long-limbed outline and dark skin of his pre-conversion body despite existing as a consciousness-based energy lifeform. Strange inscriptions cover his body, a cloak hangs over his shoulders, and he normally floats roughly half a meter above the ground. After sacrificing most of his strength through Streaming Light Clones, his surviving form appears much smaller and younger. (Chapters 437–438 and 445)

He initially presents himself as calm, detached, and philosophically superior, criticizing humans for valuing physical power over consciousness and responding to insults without visible anger. That poise is partly cultivated intimidation. When Su Chen breaks the illusion, Silence becomes furious; when defeat becomes likely, he lies about his remaining strength, offers knowledge in exchange for mercy, and immediately attempts another betrayal. His reproductive research shows patience and commitment to a Spirit Race goal, but his use of sentient subjects and delight in manipulating hidden hostility make that commitment predatory rather than benevolent. Abilities and cultivation

Silence’s exact Arcana tier, cultivation method, and conversion history are not stated. His power comes from the Spirit Race’s consciousness-based physiology, a broad body of Ancient Arcana knowledge, prepared formations, and centuries of experimentation rather than a named human cultivation realm.

Spirit Race body and survival techniques

As a Spirit Race individual, Silence has no ordinary physical body and can float, survive on energy, and use the race’s ability to slip through the void. Nihility Body lets apparently physical attacks pass through his displayed form, although many early demonstrations occur inside his illusion realm and therefore cannot be treated as proof of unlimited intangibility. In the final private fight, he uses a real Crystal Wall for defense and turns into a streak of light to evade attacks, but Su Chen’s fire techniques can shatter the wall and pressure his depleted form. (Chapters 438–446)

Streaming Light Clones divide Silence into numerous copies that can flee separately and later recombine. The technique preserves a remnant after the pursuing group believes he has died, but the cost is severe: after ten or more clones are destroyed, Su Chen estimates that the survivor holds closer to one-thirtieth than one-third of Silence’s original strength. Spirit Dwelling then allows that remnant to hide inside and animate Wei Xiaofeng’s corpse without ordinary consciousness detection. Su Chen’s altered eyesight still exposes the possession, while Patelocke’s specter physiology provides a decisive counter by consuming the weakened consciousness directly. Silence has no later state or avenue of progression after that consumption. (Chapters 444–446)

Illusion realm and consciousness manipulation

Silence’s prepared illusion formation covers a large area and reads its victims’ memories and expectations to reproduce surroundings, opponents, and techniques. Inside it, the Crystal Labyrinth seems to refract attacks and regenerate indefinitely, while combatants can even use abilities they understand conceptually but have not completed in reality. The realm is not itself sufficient to kill everyone: Silence uses the spectacle to conceal movements in the physical valley and attacks weaker victims in an order that his real strength can manage. Excessive or inconsistent displays strain the deception, and a target who recognizes the illusion can break its boundary by attacking the environment rather than the simulated enemy. Su Chen exploits both limits, making the formation powerful against conventional resistance but vulnerable to analytical consciousness users. (Chapters 439–442)

Chaotic Heart reaches into existing grudges, longings, and hostile impulses, amplifying them until targets act rashly against one another. It cannot manufacture a useful impulse where none exists, which is why newcomers without established grievances are unaffected, and Su Chen consciously resists despite possessing genuine hostility. Silence’s earlier consciousness-slave discovery operates on a related principle: incomplete conversion makes a subject persistently receptive to suggestion, though the corpus does not explain his later preparation process, range, or number of simultaneous slaves. His confusion techniques also fail against Su Chen’s unusually strong consciousness, demonstrating that raw resistance and self-control can counter them. (Chapters 443–445 and 505)

Ancient Arcana and controlled creatures

Outside the illusion, Silence summons or directs a giant serpent, deploys strange fog containing biting entities, and uses controlled humans as combatants and vessels. He also knows a wide range of offensive and defensive Ancient Arcana Techniques, although Patelocke recovers only fragments of the complete collection and the narrative does not name most of them. The serpent can delay An Siyuan but is badly injured by sustained Overlord Fists, while cleansing light suppresses the fog’s effects. These encounters show that Silence’s preparations can multiply his reach, but once opponents separate the mental battlefield from reality, his creatures and direct Arcana are vulnerable to superior force and specialized counters. • Su Chen: Silence first regards Su Chen as an unusually knowledgeable junior, then recognizes him as the greatest threat after he breaks the illusion and resists Chaotic Heart. Their final duel becomes a contest of deception: Silence feigns weakness and offers a false memory transfer, while Su Chen anticipates the betrayal and takes his knowledge through Patelocke instead. (Chapters 439–446)
• Patelocke: Patelocke is Silence’s natural predator in specter form. He consumes the weakened Spirit Race consciousness and recovers an incomplete but extensive store of memories, techniques, and research, ending Silence’s life while transferring parts of his intellectual legacy to Su Chen.
