Lin Jingxuan

Lin Jingxuan is a collateral member of the Lin Clan and one of four young candidates selected for intensive cultivation before the Hidden Dragon Institute examination. Unlike the better-protected Lin Yemao, he has advanced through personal effort and has little family power behind him. Su Chen exploits that vulnerability, forcing him to help kill Lin Yemao and later using him as a courier during the examination.

A cultivated Lin Clan candidate

Lin Jingxuan is first named among the four youths the Lin Clan hopes will seize Northface City’s Hidden Dragon Institute places. He trains through the clan’s arrangement with the Gu Clan and is later identified as one of the only candidates under sixteen whose strength approaches an Origin Qi Scholar, although he has not actually reached that realm. At Gu Qingluo’s tea gathering, he leads a large group of young Lin members who resent Su Chen’s presence. (Chapters 23 and 108–109)

When challenged to face Su Chen, Lin hesitates because he lacks authority to gamble the clan’s Moon-Worshipping Toad. Lin Xingrong orders him to fight, but the broader confrontation leaves him exposed to Su Chen’s pressure. As a collateral relative without a powerful father, Lin concludes that preserving everything he earned requires submission. He comes to Su Chen in fear and humility and agrees to serve as the inside participant in the plan that kills Lin Yemao. (Chapters 109 and 114)

Examination courier

During the Hidden Dragon examination, Lin’s apparently unimpressive move from the thirteenth region to the weaker fifteenth is deliberate. Su Chen sends him there as a reserve source of points in case the Spirit Burying Terrace prevents Su Chen from qualifying.
