Li Qingyun

Li Qingyun is a young genius of Northface City's Li Clan and a disciple of the swordsman He Changsheng. During the Hidden Dragon Institute entrance exam, his pride draws him into Su Chen's attempt to sweep through higher-ranked regions. He later enrolls at the Institute and places within the year-end Dragon Transformation List's top two hundred. (Chapters 69, 118–119, 123, and 179)

Biography

Returning to Northface

Li Qingyun returns to Northface after studying under “Willow Sword” He Changsheng, bringing a reputation for two contrasting sword arts: the graceful Dancing Wind Willow Sword and the decisive Concealed Stab. His arrival marks him as one of the city's notable young competitors, but the early report establishes reputation and training rather than showing him fight. (Chapter 69)

During the Hidden Dragon entrance exam, Li crosses from the thirteenth region into the twelfth to seek stronger candidates. He meets a masked Su and Bai Li, initially expects a contest, and then accepts Su's more audacious challenge: advancing together toward the first region. Li admits the sweep is probably impossible, yet pride and competitive spirit make refusing less attractive than trying. He reaches the fifth region before being forced back and finishes the exam eighty-eighth overall with 236 points, second among Northface candidates. (Chapters 118–123)

Hidden Dragon student

Li enters the Hidden Dragon Institute and continues competing with the peers from his entrance cohort. At the end of the year, he is listed among the top two hundred students on the Dragon Transformation List, with Bai Li narrowly ahead of him. This is Li's latest direct placement in the narrative. He remains alive, but the corpus does not provide his later cultivation, graduation, clan role, or participation in Su's campaigns. (Chapter 179)

Appearance and personality

Li wears azure robes and carries a long sword on his back. The weapon is conventionally shaped but thin and slightly curved, a design suited to speed and agile changes of direction. The corpus does not give stable details for his face, hair, eyes, height, or build. (Chapters 69 and 118–119)

He is proud, competitive, brave, and sufficiently honorable to prefer a declared contest over a concealed attack. He seeks difficult opponents and follows Su's challenge despite recognizing its poor odds. His realism keeps that pride from becoming complete self-delusion: he knows the difference between an inspiring goal and a probable outcome, and he continues measuring himself against Bai Li after entering the Institute. (Chapters 118–123 and 179)

Abilities and cultivation

Li trained under He Changsheng in two sword styles. Dancing Wind Willow Sword emphasizes graceful, agile, and unusual movement, matching his light curved blade. Concealed Stab is described as a dominating single-strike killing technique. Their coexistence suggests versatility between mobile exchanges and a decisive finish, but the corpus does not show a complete Li Qingyun duel that establishes exact mechanics, range, cost, or limitations. (Chapter 69)

His entrance score and later Dragon Transformation ranking show that he is a capable young Origin Qi Scholar, yet the supplied evidence does not state his exact cultivation realm, bloodline, breakthrough path, or later progression. The attributed sword arts come from his teacher's instruction; no supernatural property is assigned to Li's sword, and his latest fighting state remains unknown. (Chapters 69, 123, and 179)

Relationships

  • Su Chen: A masked rival and temporary exam leader whose impossible-seeming challenge Li accepts. Their shared advance helps define Li's competitive courage, but the corpus does not develop a later close relationship. (Chapters 118–123)
  • Bai Li: Fellow Northface candidate and continuing benchmark. Bai joins the regional sweep and later ranks immediately ahead of Li on the Dragon Transformation List. (Chapters 118–123 and 179)
