Gu Jintang

Gu Jintang is Gu Qingluo's fourth elder cousin and one of the first Gu Clan relatives whom Su Chen deliberately wins over. His pride is softened by Su Chen's generosity, and he later becomes an intermediary—and an unwitting participant—in Su Chen's campaign to overturn Gu Qingluo's arranged engagement. Biography

From skeptic to supporter

Gu Jintang arrives in Long Coiling City convinced that a bloodline-less man is unworthy of Gu Qingluo. Su Chen does not challenge that superiority directly; he includes Jintang in an extravagant shopping trip, teases him with high-grade Origin Tools, and gives him room to choose a gift. Jintang's resistance collapses under the combination of wealth, generosity, and social standing. Over wine he declares that he supports Su Chen regardless of what the rest of the Gu Clan decides, making him the first relative Su Chen successfully brings to his side. He then guides the group toward the Sea of Clouds Auction, where the enormous bids make even this Bloodline Nobility Clan young master feel financially powerless. (Chapters 464–473)

Years later, Su Chen contacts “Prince Jintang” to reach Qingluo and learn how the Gu Clan decides marriages. Jintang explains that winning over her father is insufficient because senior relatives and the Clan Relative Society also matter. Su Chen subsequently uses him as a channel in the scheme against Zhou Qingkuang: Jintang warns Zhou about a wealthy rival, accepts payment for the information, and carries carefully framed concerns back to Gu Xuanmian. He believes he is profiting from useful gossip, while his reports actually deepen the pressure on the engagement and advance Su Chen's plan. (Chapters 568–578)

Appearance and personality

Gu Jintang is introduced carrying himself with his eyes metaphorically fixed on the heavens, an expression of his ingrained Gu Clan superiority. No stable details of build, clothing, hair, or age are supplied. He is proud and status-conscious, but also transparent in his appetites: valuable gifts, wine, and money quickly excite him. His teasing farewell to Su Chen and Qingluo and his willingness to support their relationship show that his arrogance is compatible with warmth once someone earns his regard. Abilities and cultivation

The corpus does not state Gu Jintang's cultivation realm or show him in a completed fight. As a Gu Clan member, he possesses a powerful inherited bloodline, and the narration discusses his compatibility with the clan's Waterstar Chill when evaluating a Frost Soul weapon. That compatibility is not a demonstrated activation by Jintang, however, so its mechanics, strength, costs, and degree of awakening remain unknown. (Chapter 468)

His most consistently demonstrated competence is social rather than martial. He knows the Gu Clan's marriage process, recognizes the influence of its elders, moves between interested parties, and can steer a conversation through selective information. The later scheme also shows the limit of that skill: Su Chen anticipates Jintang's greed and makes him transmit information without understanding the larger plan. No cultivation progression or later combat state is recorded. (Chapters 568–578)
