Flowing Flame Oriole is a Harpy Sanskrit Chanter sent into human territory as part of the plan to create Floating Point Six from a living broodmother. Captured and interrogated by Su Chen, she ultimately destroys herself rather than let the broodmother become a weapon against the Harpies. (Chapters 775–784)

Biography

Captivity and the secret of Floating Point Six

By the time Flowing Flame Oriole is identified, experiments on captured Harpies have replaced her initial hatred with fear. A memory-blocking technique prevents her from consciously revealing her mission, so Su Chen reconstructs it indirectly and then forces her to confront the sealed memories. With Patelocke helping her erect mental defenses, she survives the backlash and explains that the broodmother is intended to carry a mobile sixth Harpy city, fed and armored through the assimilated remains of a Gold-Devouring Ape. (Chapters 775–782 and 784)

Flowing Flame Oriole remains proud of Harpy history and absolutely devoted to the Mother Goddess. When Su Chen mocks that faith and demands the technique for controlling the broodmother, her fanatic conviction lets her break his control. She self-destructs to keep the hive from serving humanity, but Su Chen captures her Arcana Technique Pattern and extracts the needed Soul Stamp anyway. Later evidence shows that she secretly wrote herself into the broodmother’s loyalty hierarchy and hid it so effectively that the Harpies could not locate it without Su Chen’s intervention. (Chapters 782–784, 788, 800, and 803–805)

Appearance and personality

Flowing Flame Oriole is an attractive female Harpy with the race’s characteristic wings. Captivity leaves her trembling and fearful, though Su Chen recognizes that she sometimes exaggerates that fear to appear harmless. No more distinctive physical description is supplied. (Chapter 775)

She is proud, resourceful, and deeply religious. Fear can compel her cooperation, but it does not erase her Harpy identity or devotion to the Mother Goddess. Her decision to include herself in the broodmother’s loyalties reveals personal ambition alongside racial duty; her final suicide nevertheless places the Harpies and their faith above her own life. (Chapters 775, 782–784, and 805)

Abilities and cultivation

As a Sanskrit Chanter, Flowing Flame Oriole can sing techniques that purify consciousness, sharpen the mind, increase consciousness power, and counter mental attacks. Her aptitude in consciousness arts previously allowed her to break control over a puppet. Sanskrit Chanters are specialists rather than frontline warriors, and the corpus does not provide her Arcana ring, personal combat style, or physical strength. (Chapter 775)

Her mission depends on Soul Stamp, a technique that permanently establishes loyalty in a developing target. It cannot be used casually or repeatedly: after stamping another subject, she must wait before using it again, and the broodmother must mature to an appropriate stage. A separate safeguard erases or blocks mission memories based on designated words, inflicting disabling pain if challenged. Flowing Flame Oriole also deliberately self-destructs with a violent energy burst, but no reusable name or mechanics are given for that final act. (Chapters 775, 781, and 783–784)
