Overview

The Baisec Magic Mirror is the Old Witch's signature laboratory artifact. It accelerates elemental-particle reactions and can distort or replicate whatever falls within its reflection. Its interior also confines reflected souls: numerous girls are trapped inside at its introduction, and a protected fragment of Pei'er later develops an autonomous consciousness there.

History

Perfect Body laboratory

The Old Witch uses the Mirror while constructing a replacement body and testing locator-related transformations. Its reflection can expose appearances that ordinary observation conceals, making it both instrument and threat inside her laboratory. Saul confiscates it when their bargain collapses. (Chapters 522–529)

Pei'er's restoration

The Old Witch brings the Mirror when confronting Pei'er, repeatedly seeing Pei'er's original face in its reflection before the divided identity is resolved. Pei'er later leaves a strand of her consciousness inside as insurance against Clark completely devouring her, and intuition leads her to keep the artifact in Saul's care even after Clark dies. (Chapters 596–604, 647)

Prismatic contact

Saul and Agu later use the Mirror to hold an evil-thought soul fragment associated with Pei'er while attempting contact across the Prismatic boundary. (Chapters 702–703)

  • Supports locator, vessel, and Perfect Body experiments.
  • Contains small divided body or consciousness states for transport and study.

Custody

Originally controlled by the Old Witch, the Mirror passes into Saul's custody and is temporarily entrusted to him by Pei'er. Agu monitors it in Saul's laboratory; after Saul transfers the evil-thought fragment into Nerela's black page, the empty but intact Mirror remains there.
