Wright

Biography

Valley betrayal and cursed-domain death

Wright joins Bill and Byron near Hanging Hands Valley as a smiling, resourceful Third Rank Apprentice with earth magic and prepared escape tools. When Morden's wraith overwhelms the expedition, he accepts Saul as expendable and helps place the younger apprentice in danger; Byron's counter-plan later forces Wright to assist the very person he sacrificed. Back at the tower he trades dolls and materials while trying to turn that debt into ordinary business. His dealings with the Land Drifters draw him into Grind Sail's cursed domain, where possession and competing powers strip away his remaining control and lead to his death. (Chapters 118–147, 237–250, and 275–282)

Appearance and personality

Wright is pale-faced, outwardly good-natured, and quick to laugh away danger. Beneath that sociability he is opportunistic, prepared to abandon companions or shift blame to Bill when survival and profit point elsewhere. (Chapters 118–147 and 237–250)

Abilities

He specializes in earth magic, terrain manipulation, detection tools, escape preparations, and magical dolls or constructs. His practical equipment prolongs his survival but cannot protect his identity from soul control. (Chapters 118–147 and 237–282)

Relationships
