Bill

Biography

Grind Sail enforcer and Hanging Hands victim

Bill first appears in Grind Sail Town as a cold wizard willing to threaten local priests and use violence to enforce his objectives. At Hanging Hands Valley he travels with Wright, kills Land Drifters who attempt an ambush, and treats weaker companions as burdens. Morden's wraith reverses that hierarchy: Bill cannot resist possession-level soul predation and is killed, leaving his more famous brother Billy unable to protect him. The tower preserves Bill's corpse as material. Saul later uses it to demonstrate body and soul experiments to Gorsa, confirming that Bill's later “appearance” is a cadaver rather than a revived identity. (Chapters 103, 118–147, 198–224, and 397)

Appearance and personality

Bill has purple hair and a mocking, aggressive manner. He is confident when his group controls the encounter, quick to kill enemies, and dismissive of lower-rank apprentices until Morden exposes how little that confidence matters against a True Wizard wraith. (Chapters 103 and 118–147)

Abilities

As a Second Rank Apprentice trained under Gudo's branch of the tower, Bill combines combat spells with ruthless fieldcraft. His exact specialty matters less than his willingness to lure, kill, and loot opponents. (Chapters 103, 118–147, and 224)

Relationships

  • Wright: Bill and Wright cooperate in the valley while each remains willing to blame or sacrifice the other. (Chapters 118–147)
  • Morden: Morden kills Bill and devours his soul during the Hanging Hands possession. (Chapters 136–145)
  • Billy: Bill's powerful older brother gives him a reputation beyond his own rank but cannot undo his death. (Chapters 224 and 397)
