Survival at Ralph Manor
Swan entered Ralph Manor at only eleven or twelve under his master Clawn, searching for opportunity in a place neither could control. The manor transformed the boy's lower body into wood and took Clawn, but Swan adapted rather than surrendering. He fashioned branchlike legs, survived the white worm and Ralph's attacks, and gathered useful fragments before leaving. His escape makes him a rare living consequence of the estate: maimed and altered, yet resourceful enough to continue alone. (Chapters 185–206)
Appearance and personality
Swan is a young boy whose lower body becomes a wooden stump and later a set of mobile branch legs. He is frightened but observant, practical, and remarkably adaptable under sustained horror.
