Survival as a tail
Robin pursued tailbone modification at the Sighing Wall, believing altered bodies could outlast the black tide. Maria burned him after the experiment became monstrous, but his lower half survived, developed independent consciousness, killed Lawrence, and devoured Delen. When Saul and Maria captured him, Robin defended his form as adaptation rather than failure and argued that the weak deserved extinction. Saul rejected his arrogance but valued the transformation's evidence, taking Robin away for further study after Murphy examined him. (Chapters 930–936)
Appearance and personality
Robin survives as a long black tail with a distorted face and bony slit at one end. He is intelligent, stubborn, predatory, and convinced that ruthless adaptation is morally justified by the coming flood.
Abilities
- Tailbone transformation adapted to polluted deep water.
- Devouring of sea life and wizards to sustain or strengthen the transformed body.
- Strong resistance to ordinary attacks and black-tide conditions.
