Biography

Warrior ruler and burden of Kema

Kira first appears beside Gorsa as a formidable Second Rank Wizard whose body-focused magic and direct combat style protect Kema from barbarians, Kenas, and threats such as Victor. As Grand Duke she balances those battles with nobles, borders, population loss, and the need to cultivate successors such as Keli. The resurrected Yura exploits their supposed sisterhood, confines and impersonates Kira, and uses Kema for a trap against Gorsa. Keli and Saul help restore her rule; Kira then imprisons Yura for the civilians killed by the Aurora Realm. State responsibilities ultimately consume the time needed for Third Rank advancement, and Kira dies before the epilogue, after which Kema falls into renewed civil strife. Appearance and personality

Kira is a beautiful, physically composed ruler whose limbs can become silver blades, axes, and other weapons. She is forceful, suspicious, and politically weary, but her defining restraint is responsibility for subjects whom higher wizards might treat as collateral. (Chapters 70, 204–281, 713–714, and 915)

Abilities

Her body-focused magic supports high-speed flight, weapon transformation, lightning-edged attacks, and veteran Second Rank combat. Political duty, not lack of talent, is identified as the reason she never completes the next breakthrough. (Chapters 70, 103–148, 204–281, 713–714, and 1037)

Relationships

• Yura: Kira remembers the original Yura as her sister but recognizes that the resurrected figure's motives and personality do not match. (Chapters 713–714, 880–915, and 949)
• Keli: Kira supports Keli's growth and political future, then releases her to research; Keli returns when Kira's secret distress code arrives. (Chapters 712–714 and 894–907)
• Saul: Kira initially treats Saul as Gorsa's protected apprentice and later accepts his aid in restoring Kema. (Chapters 204–281 and 894–915)
