Biography
Treatment, confession, and death
Justin approaches Saul directly for treatment of severe wounds and pollution, accepting experimental uncertainty because his condition is otherwise untenable. He is also acting at Pei'er's request, one of several agents sent to test Saul, but admits that hidden purpose after recognizing the value of Saul's work. The confession does not protect him: Pei'er kills him as a compromised subordinate. His earlier stewardship of the Black Sea Tree later becomes important because its remaining material passes into Saul's hands. (Chapters 566–578, 587, 637, 820)
Appearance and personality
Justin is a solemn older male wizard dressed in a neat, formal style unusual for the Borderland. Direct and self-controlled, he is pragmatic enough to seek help and honorable enough to disclose his divided motives.
Abilities
As a Second Rank Wizard, he possesses strong mental and magical power and experience maintaining the pollution-absorbing Black Sea Tree.
