A composite self in the Diary
An is a newly formed personality created when an incomplete black page absorbs the Wraith Hand, a fragmented wraith, and part of Angela's soul energy. She is not Ann, Saul's spider-bodied servant. The Dead Wizard's Diary prevents An's incompatible memories from tearing the composite apart, allowing her to stabilize and advise Saul. Those inherited memories make her unexpectedly useful: she recalls the tower after Yura's death, deciphers a Soul-Devouring Flower command, and identifies Lokai's role in Angela's corpse-flower ritual. Appearance and personality
An primarily appears through writing on a black page rather than a stable body. Her emerging personality is playful, eager to prove useful, and vulnerable to intrusive memories from her component souls.
Abilities
She combines fragmentary memories from several sources, deciphers obscure mental commands, and communicates through the Diary's pages.
