Winesage

Winesage is the Dark Kingdom's foremost Daolord and the publicly ranked number-one Daolord of the Endless Territories during the Waveshift Realm contest. A Heartforce Cultivator armed with a Universe treasure, he combines mental suppression, destruction-based hand techniques, and pragmatic bargaining.

Biography

Dark Kingdom's champion

Winesage grows up in the Dark Kingdom's world of slaughter, where an outsider organization unable to rely on the Dao Alliance tempers its geniuses through continual danger. Alcohol becomes his means of dulling those memories, and an alcohol-induced dream leads to a breakthrough in heartforce. Long survival under that system gives him an unusually stable Dao-heart and a reputation that even rival organizations consider deserved. (Chapters 1082 and 1130)

By the Waveshift Realm era he is already acknowledged as the strongest Daolord in the Endless Territories. A Universe treasure chooses him and guides him to further Dawn War relics. When more than ten thousand Dao Alliance Daolords form a barrier to exclude the Dark Kingdom, Winesage uses the weapon to force a path through, proving that the political isolation of his faction cannot keep its strongest member from the Jadeseal contest. His urgency comes from age. Winesage has lived for more than one hundred thousand chaos cycles and is approaching the 108,000-cycle limit for a Daolord. The Voidsea Jadeseal cannot guarantee success, but it can simulate the Daomerge and may improve his otherwise narrow chance of avoiding death. (Chapters 1082 and 1108)

Duel with Darknorth

Winesage pursues Ning after the first Jadeseal battles and insists on a direct duel. He initially withholds his Universe treasure because he wants to measure another Heartforce Cultivator on technique. His Extermination Palms match Ning's Heavenbreaker, and his shifting Asura Dance tests Ning's softer sword forms. The Dreamwaker Finger, which had defeated Dawnstar and the Radiant King, loses head-on to Ning's weapon-amplified Blood Drop. (Chapters 1105–1107)

He accepts that without the Universe treasure Ning would replace him as the era's strongest Daolord. After equipping its black gloves, however, every hand technique rises to the power of a Sacred City lord and forces Ning entirely onto defense. Winesage wins the direct exchange but cannot prevent Ning from vanishing through Shadowless or match the escape closely enough to capture him. The duel therefore preserves Winesage's official supremacy while defining its sources and limits. (Chapters 1107–1108)

Jadeseals and isolation

Winesage pursues the remaining seals independently so he will not have to divide a prize. He claims one and later uses a cycleseed dart to kill Daolord Feich through a final defensive mirror and invulnerable mist form, acquiring a second. The success isolates him: none of the other supreme Daolords want the strongest competitor as a partner, and more than twenty cooperate to prevent his escape. (Chapters 1113–1132)

Rather than mistake pride for invulnerability, Winesage asks Ning for help and negotiates under pressure. He gives up most of his nonessential treasures while retaining weapons, seals, and two lifesaving resources. Ning and Ninedust join him, creating a combination the surrounding Daolords judge too dangerous to continue fighting. Winesage survives with both Daomerge opportunities but at a severe material price. (Chapters 1132–1133)

Within Crimsonwave Temple, his Dark Kingdom tempering and heartforce let him clear the Vitalis and Daoheart trials quickly and take two command talismans. After the competition he obediently returns to Emperor Severfive and advocates for the Dark Kingdom during negotiations over coldflame cauldron fruit. His last substantial role is therefore institutional: he turns personal gains and standing into support for the outsider faction that produced him. (Chapters 1130 and 1134–1136)

Appearance and personality

Winesage wears ancient black robes covered in diagrams. His hair is tousled, his eyes bleary, and his general appearance unkempt, yet his presence makes him seem the center of the surrounding world. He is proud but not delusional: he seeks worthy opponents, acknowledges Ning's unaided superiority, and bargains when a coalition makes victory impossible. His alcoholism originates in trauma and later becomes inseparable from the dream-inspired arts that define him. (Chapters 1082 and 1106–1108)

Abilities and cultivation

Winesage is a supreme Daolord who concurrently cultivates heartforce and a destruction-centered close-combat path. His strongest system layers a heartworld projection, the Asura Domain, and hand techniques so opponents fight while mentally and emotionally suppressed.

Heartworld and Asura Domain

The Asura Domain merges a bloodlight secret art with Winesage's heartworld projection. It suppresses movement and energy while sending corrosive heartforce into a target's emotions, producing increasing irritation and reducing precision over time. Against ordinary supreme Daolords, the combined pressure can reduce practical strength before close combat begins. (Chapters 1105–1107)

The domain depends on relative heartforce. Ning's own projection slightly exceeds Winesage's and prevents the emotional effect from deciding their duel. Multiple Heartforce Cultivators can also contest or crush one another's expanded projections, which means coverage and concentrated strength trade off against each other. (Chapters 1089 and 1105–1107)

Extermination Palms

The Extermination Palms are Winesage's hard, Yang-style attack. With six manifested arms, he flips his palms outward and releases direct destructive force capable of meeting Ning's Heavenbreaker evenly without the Universe treasure. The technique is powerful but comparatively straightforward, making it less adaptable than his later killer attacks. (Chapters 1106–1107)

Asura Dance

The Asura Dance is a soft, Yin-style sequence in which Winesage produces shifting afterimages and attacks through claws, palms, and gentle pushes from many apparent angles. It works best inside the Asura Domain, where emotional disturbance makes the target misread those transitions. A Heartforce Cultivator who resists the domain can meet its changing force directly, as Ning does with Shadowless. (Chapter 1107)

Dreamwaker Finger

The Dreamwaker Finger is Winesage's strongest unaided killer attack, created after waking from a drunken dream. Six finger strikes draw on the surrounding spacetime and contain the essence of destruction, releasing their full force at contact. It defeats Dawnstar and the Radiant King when paired with Winesage's suppressive field, but Ning's Blood Drop is faster and more powerfully amplified by the Northbow swords, knocking Winesage backward in a frontal clash. Universe-treasure gloves

Winesage's black gloves are a Universe treasure that amplifies every one of his hand techniques rather than only a single stance. They raise his raw output to the level of the eight Sacred City lords, let Extermination Palms overwhelm Ning's defense, and threaten the stability of the Grand Waveshift Formation if used indiscriminately. (Chapter 1108)

The gloves do not raise Winesage's insight to the same level. A Sacred City lord with equal power would still possess more profound technique, and a target Winesage cannot locate or catch can disengage despite losing direct exchanges. The weapon chooses and strengthens him, but does not solve pursuit or guarantee his Daomerge. (Chapters 1082 and 1108)

Cycleseed dart

The cycleseed dart is a one-use Dawn War relic discovered after the Universe treasure guides Winesage to an ancient battlefield. It pierces Feich's final mirror defense, attacks through an invulnerable mist transformation, and kills him, but Winesage is reluctant to spend it because he has only two comparable relics. This is equipment-derived lethality rather than a repeatable hand technique. (Chapter 1131)
