Hegemon Winterflame

Hegemon Winterflame is an Aberrant special lifeform born from a sentient, impossibly cold flame. An influential but notoriously unscrupulous Hegemon, he tries to extort Ji Ning's realmship by threatening Vastheaven Palace and is later trapped and executed in the Jadefire Realm.

Biography

Threatening Vastheaven Palace

Winterflame arrives with the second wave of Hegemons seeking the realmship Ning brought into the Jadefire Realm. While the others proceed toward the prison, he studies Ning's rescue of Ninedust Sectlord and identifies loyalty as leverage. He travels to Vastheaven Palace intending to abduct every World-level cultivator, Daolord, and Emperor there, then exchange their lives for the ship. His companions recognize the plan as both shameful and characteristic. (Chapters 1230–1232)

Ning has already moved his vulnerable companions into an estate-world and confronts Winterflame through an avatar. Winterflame demands a lifeblood oath promising the realmship, seals the surrounding spacetime, and attacks with eight silver claws carrying his native white flame. The strike forces Ning to reveal an invulnerable form, but Hegemon Brightshore arrives before Winterflame can press the attack. Winterflame withdraws with a threat to settle matters inside Jadefire. Captured in the Jadefire Realm

Winterflame joins the treasure seekers who eventually become trapped in Jadefire's flaming passageways. Ning offers release in return for surrendered valuables; Winterflame refuses the earlier terms and remains hostile while other Hegemons accept. Once Ning takes control of the prison mechanisms and tames Flamewing, Winterflame's invulnerable form no longer guarantees survival. An attempted escape nearly kills him, and he finally offers his armor, Universe weapon, and all other treasures for mercy. (Chapters 1236–1240 and 1253–1266)

Death

When Ning returns, Winterflame greets him humbly, offers permanent service, and promises obedience even after a failed Daomerge. Ning considers but rejects the offer because Winterflame's attack on uninvolved dependents makes him impossible to trust. At Ning's order, Flamewing assumes his Chaos Primordial body and overwhelms Winterflame. The Hegemon transforms into a sea of fire, but Flamewing extinguishes the entire form; Winterflame's true body and avatar perish together. News of his death establishes Ning as one of the two figures the Alliance's Hegemons most fear. (Chapter 1267)

Appearance and personality

Winterflame appears as a devilishly handsome man in luminous white robes. His alabaster skin is almost translucent, and his eyes radiate terrifying cold. He is intelligent enough to identify emotional leverage and shameless enough to threaten weaker bystanders, but pride repeatedly distorts his risk assessment. Once trapped, arrogance collapses into frantic bargaining; when mercy fails, fear turns back into hatred. (Chapters 1230–1231 and 1266–1267)

Abilities and cultivation

Aberrant flame body

Winterflame began as a sentient ball of fire and cultivated to the Hegemon level. His natural body can disperse from humanoid shape into white flame or a sea of fire, providing an invulnerable form that ordinary physical attacks cannot permanently destroy. The form is not absolute immortality: a Chaos Primordial whose power overwhelms the entire transformed body can extinguish it without leaving a surviving portion. (Chapters 1231 and 1267)

Winterflame

His namesake winterflame is an intensely cold white fire unique to him. It reduces weaker targets to ash almost immediately despite radiating frigidity rather than conventional heat. Winterflame can spread it across a large area, shape it through attacking constructs, and use its aura to force concealed enemies out of Shadowless movement. Comparable or stronger Hegemons can block the attack, and Ning's invulnerable avatar survives by abandoning solid form. (Chapter 1231)

Eight silver-scaled claws

Winterflame manifests eight enormous silver-scaled claws, each carrying part of the white fire. The claws let him converge attacks from multiple angles while the surrounding spacetime is sealed, limiting ordinary escape. Brightshore destroys the manifested claws with one direct blow, after which they melt back into Winterflame's fire body; they are therefore extensions of his power rather than eight independently durable weapons. Spacetime travel and sealing

As a Hegemon, Winterflame tears through spacetime rapidly enough to reach Vastheaven ahead of most competitors and can lock the local world during an attack. These capabilities work in ordinary space but do not grant control over Jadefire's Sithe mechanisms. Once Ning's golem operates the flaming passageways, the prison's routes and attacks override Winterflame's attempt to flee. (Chapters 1230–1231 and 1266–1267)
