Daolord Naia — Desolate Era

Daolord Naia is a Fourth Step Daolord who swears a lifeblood oath and becomes Ji Ning's second Daolord retainer.

Biography

Kongsan's surviving disciple

Naia is the eldest disciple of Daolord Kongsan, a Fourth Step Daolord who attempts to seize the legacy within the ancestral site of the Ninedust Sect. Kongsan's death leaves Naia in Ji Ning's power. Ning does not simply execute her or seize everything she owns: he gives her a choice between death and service, and allows her to retain her personal treasures if she becomes his retainer. Naia chooses life, kneels, and swears the binding lifeblood oath. Ning then gives her his Daoist title, Darknorth, and presents her to his household as his second Daolord retainer. (Chapter 1023)

The bargain defines the rest of Naia's role. She did not join Ning through an old friendship or shared sect; she accepts a new hierarchy after her former master is killed. Once the oath is made, however, she does not repeatedly challenge it. She adopts the formal conduct of a retainer and follows Ning's orders alongside Pillsaint and Su Youji. (Chapter 1023)

The Eastroad crisis

When Ning's group reaches the Eastroad Sect, he orders Naia to restrain the pressure of her aura so that the sect's ordinary cultivators are not terrorized merely by her presence. He then summons her before Daolord Thunderheat as evidence that he has powerful retainers available for the sect's defense. Thunderheat does not recognize Naia's name, but her status as a Fourth Step Daolord still makes her an important part of Ning's apparent strength. (Chapters 1024–1026)

Naia herself gives a much more sober assessment. When Thunderheat wonders whether she could oppose the invading Ninedust Sectlord with the sect's formations supporting her, she states plainly that Ninedust would kill her in a single strike. This is not cowardice so much as an accurate recognition of the gulf between ordinary Fourth Step Daolords and the supreme Daolords at the peak of the Endless Territories. She can overwhelm lesser cultivators through raw level and pressure, yet her cultivation step alone does not make her competitive with Ninedust. (Chapter 1026)

While Ning confronts the crisis, Naia spends time within the Void Pathway and spars with Su Youji. The Pathway's progressively stronger soldiers give cultivators a controlled means of testing themselves, while bouts between retainers let them compare techniques without entering a lethal feud. During the actual invasion, Ning withdraws Naia and the other weaker members of his household into his estate-treasure. Ninedust's battle with Ning produces forces that a normal Fourth Step Daolord could not safely withstand, so Naia contributes through training and obedience rather than being falsely presented as a decisive combatant. Lessons in the new universe

Ning's travels later carry Naia and the other retainers into a newly discovered universe. There, ancient scars left by a battle between Hegemon-level powers preserve fragments of the Daos behind their attacks. Because Naia has already reached the Fourth Step, she can perceive more from those remnants than the lower-level cultivators around her. The episode gives her a rare opportunity to study power vastly beyond her own without directly facing it in combat. (Chapters 1055–1058)

Naia is also present when Ning successfully establishes a heartworld. The transformation means that her master is no longer merely a terrifying close-combat Daolord: he is a true Heartforce Cultivator capable of projecting and weaponizing an internal world. Release from service

As Ning's enemies and destinations become more dangerous, keeping ordinary retainers beside him ceases to protect them or materially help him. He therefore releases Naia and three other Daolord retainers from their oaths, gives them gourds and life-preserving treasures, and lets them choose their own futures. Naia and Bruteflame receive the decision calmly; both have lived long enough to understand that following an Omega Daolord into ever-greater dangers would eventually become fatal. Her last major change in status is consequently the reversal of her first: a woman forced to choose service after Kongsan's fall ultimately leaves Darknorth's household alive, equipped, and free. Appearance and personality

Naia is described as a green-robed woman. When she does not suppress herself, the aura of her Fourth Step cultivation is vast enough to seem heaven-filling to weaker onlookers. She can deliberately draw that pressure inward, allowing her to travel among ordinary cultivators without destabilizing everyone around her. (Chapters 1023–1025)

Her clearest personality trait is practical self-knowledge. She accepts service when Ning offers death as the alternative, but she does not become boastful merely because she survives or because Thunderheat hopes to use her. Her blunt admission that Ninedust could kill her in one blow prevents the Eastroad Sect from planning around a strength she does not possess. She is disciplined under the lifeblood oath, trains with fellow retainers, observes higher Daos when the opportunity arises, and accepts her eventual release without melodrama. Abilities and cultivation

Fourth Step cultivation

Naia has completed the fourth and final Daolord step. That gives her an enormous reserve of divine power and Immortal energy compared with World-level cultivators and earlier Daolords, and her natural pressure alone can frighten weaker beings. She can suppress that aura when subtlety or the safety of nearby cultivators requires it. The Fourth Step is a cultivation level, however, not a guarantee of equal combat ability: the quality of a cultivator's Dao, secret arts, treasures, and battle experience can create immense differences within the same step. Formation-assisted combat

Thunderheat considers placing Naia inside the Eastroad Sect's defensive formations. Such a formation would channel the sect's stored power and geographical protections through a capable controller, strengthening her attacks and defenses beyond what she could produce unaided. Naia's assessment makes the limitation explicit: even with that support, the formation would not close the gap between her and Ninedust. The proposal demonstrates that she can serve as a powerful formation anchor against ordinary enemies, not that she has a special formation Dao or a hidden technique able to defeat a supreme Daolord. Training and comprehension

Naia trains within the Void Pathway and spars with Su Youji. The Pathway confronts entrants with increasingly formidable soldiers, making it useful for testing combat methods under escalating pressure. Later, the Hegemon battle scars in the new universe act as a different kind of training resource: they preserve traces of extremely profound Daos. Naia's Fourth Step foundation allows her to extract more insight from them than cultivators whose realms and perception are lower. Neither episode gives her a named signature art in the supplied chapters, so her demonstrated strengths remain cultivation depth, experience, and the capacity to learn from high-level remnants. Relationships

Ji Ning: Ning kills her former master, offers her death or oath-bound service, and accepts her as his second Daolord retainer. She obeys him through the Eastroad crisis and later travels in his household until he releases her with protective gifts.
Daolord Kongsan: Naia was Kongsan's eldest disciple. His defeat and death create the crisis in which she must choose a new master or die.
Su Youji: Youji is a fellow retainer and sparring partner. Their training in the Void Pathway places Naia within Ning's household rather than leaving her socially isolated after her oath.
Daolord Thunderheat: Thunderheat initially hopes Naia can reinforce his sect. Naia corrects his expectations by explaining the true difference between her and Ninedust.
