Biography

Commander of the Grand Xia Realmwar

The Godking appoints Ink Bamboo to take command after the Grand Xia campaign becomes a true Realmwar. His task is not simply to fight personally: he must coordinate the Seamless Gate's armies, formations, intelligence, and reserves against the Xia Emperor's forces. Ink Bamboo studies the enemy's mass formations and responds to changes in the battlefield rather than spending lives for appearances. When an exchange turns unfavorable, he orders an organized retreat and preserves what remains of his force. (Chapters 537–542)

The campaign puts him between strategic necessity and the Godking's demand for victory. Ink Bamboo questions whether constructing a Daofather golem was worth the enormous cost of a single Realmwar, but the Godking treats that investment as the reason defeat is unacceptable. Ink Bamboo remains involved in the Seamless Gate's highest strategic discussions as the conflict moves toward the Endwar. His apparent standing as one Daofather among many proves misleading. When Lord Demonheart takes the field, Ink Bamboo reveals that he has long been Demonheart's loyal retainer and has deliberately kept his true strength hidden. He manifests as an enormous bamboo and uses his defensive power to hold down Shennong's Pangu Formation, a responsibility reserved for one of the war's most dangerous combatants. (Chapters 729–739)

The revelation also changes how his earlier restraint can be understood: the corpus establishes that he was capable of far more than he displayed during the Grand Xia campaign, although it does not state that every earlier setback was intentional.
