Epiclesis Bell

The Epiclesis Bell is an ancient artifact bound to Vilari's soul and inheritance. Its power over sensation can overturn a battle, but its connection to the lost Beseechment Pavilion carries consequences that neither Vilari nor her allies fully understand. (Chapters 1136, 1172–1179, and 1211–1215)

History

An impossible intervention

The bell's sudden manifestation ruins an enemy operation and attracts attention from people who recognize the name. Its appearance links the present conflict to the vanished Beseechment Pavilion and to a history of calamities that followed similar bells. (Chapters 1136 and 1172–1175)

Vilari's inheritance

Investigation establishes that the bell is not ordinary equipment that can simply be removed or claimed. It becomes entangled with Vilari's soul and developing inheritance, compelling Zac and their companions to protect her while searching for a way to understand the entity and influence within it. Zac eventually destroys the bell's physical shell and frees Vilari, but the imparted heritage and Jalach's influence remain active through her later search for another bell.
