Role in the wider conflict

Petrus enters an uneasy liaison post by promising not to interfere in disputes among powerful scions. He instead studies incoming equipment, offers efficiency advice, and applies a war machine's discipline to a young faction that cannot afford waste; even on the front, he listens respectfully when Tussar's experience exceeds his own. After the alliance collapses, Petrus returns carrying the shimmer of a sealbearer and an unexpectedly youthful aura. Rhubat interprets that transformation as the answer to the Zhix betrayal, and Petrus responds to restraint with destructive force rather than explanation, prompting Rhubat to kill him and turning a useful advisory relationship into the opening act of an internal war. Petrus is described as a grizzly military adviser. He presents himself as practical, restrained, and uninterested in factional politics, quickly mastering new equipment and respecting superior experience.
