Rhubat

Rhubat is a Zhix leader who turns liberation from the Dominators into a longer project of giving the hives an independent future. A formidable Anointed warrior and a trusted planetary ally, Rhubat measures personal advancement by what it can contribute to the Zhix rather than by individual prestige. Biography

Crusade and freedom

Rhubat approaches Zac Atwood while the Zhix are waging a crusade against the Dominators who enslaved their species. The hives possess soldiers and thousands of mapping devices, but Earth’s new geography has scattered the enemy-aligned hives beyond the reach of Zhix transportation. Rhubat therefore asks Zac to provide human teleportation and addresses him as Warmaster, treating cooperation as the quickest way to strike before the enemy can adapt or consolidate. The arrangement is practical, yet it also begins a lasting partnership between the Zhix and humanity. (Chapters 542–543)

During the Church of Everlasting Dao's ambush, Rhubat detects danger and orders an attack, then remains beside Zac and Ogras when the collapsing barriers force weaker combatants back. Eight Anointed die to the enemy's invisible heat, and Rhubat personally gathers one of the fallen after the battlefield falls silent. In the final confrontation with Adcarkas, Rhubat accepts the seals and sacrifices of twenty-two Anointed, withstands power that cracks their body, and lands the decisive attack while declaring that the Chainbreaker will end the crusade. A path for the hives

After Ibtep returns with the Elixir of Ascension, Rhubat sheds much of the artificial strength that once trapped the Anointed in F-grade and advances into E-grade. Unlike most survivors, Rhubat retains almost four-fifths of their former attributes and soon surpasses the old state. More important, Rhubat joins Zhix scholars and fellow Anointed in revising a cultivation method for the whole species. They tell Zac that the Zhix will protect Earth while he seeks strength elsewhere, joining the planet’s defense to the hives’ search for a future that no master designed for them. (Chapter 682)

That responsibility drives Rhubat into the sealbearer conflict, where claiming a second seal nearly shatters their body. Faith Energy from the hives sustains them through more than four months of sealed recovery, making the collective bond a literal condition of survival. Later, Wrani defeats and captures Rhubat before destroying a cultivation tome that incorporates Rhubat's latest insights. Rhubat defends the Zhix strategy of adaptation and cooperation with humanity and considers Wrani's offer because the trial was always meant to secure a future for the species. The exchange ends with Wrani forcibly tearing off and consuming one of Rhubat's arms. (Chapters 1193 and 1286)

Appearance and personality

Rhubat is an insectoid Zhix whose Anointed body originally stands well over four meters tall. After taking the antidote that frees the Anointed from their F-grade ceiling, the denser E-grade form stands about three meters tall and carries a tightly compressed aura. White cracks left by the attack that killed Adcarkas cover the transformed body, scars Rhubat wears with pride. Rhubat is direct, communal, and unsentimental about personal glory, but not indifferent: care for fallen crusaders and fury when the Zhix cultivation work is destroyed reveal how deeply they identify with the hives' shared labor. Abilities and cultivation

Anointed physique and E-grade transition

As an Anointed, Rhubat begins with enormous size, physical force, and enough resilience to remain near collapsing barriers that drive most allies away. The Dominators' enhancement also prevents normal advancement, forcing the Zhix to trade much of that borrowed strength for freedom. Rhubat's experiences and latent potential make the exchange unusually favorable: after the antidote, their smaller E-grade body condenses greater power and retains more of the old attributes than the other treated Anointed. The transition is liberation rather than a simple upgrade, because it removes the imposed ceiling at the immediate cost of much of the Anointed's borrowed strength. (Chapters 649 and 682)

Stone attacks and collective endurance

Rhubat can launch stone-aligned attacks at range and combines them with the direct, heavy combat expected of an Anointed commander. In the battle with Adcarkas, twenty-two Anointed seals briefly fill Rhubat with overwhelming power, though channeling it fractures their body. Later sealbearer battles again push that body close to destruction. Zhix collective structures partly compensate for those limits: Faith Energy from the hives nourishes Rhubat during a long sealed recovery, while the cultivation method they help develop turns individual insight into a shared resource for later generations. Relationships

• Zac Atwood: Rhubat first recruits Zac's transportation and military support, addresses him as Warmaster, and later treats the Atwood alliance as proof that different species can strengthen one another without erasing their identities. (Chapters 543, 649, 682, and 1286)
• Ibtep: Ibtep’s recovery of the Elixir of Ascension lets Rhubat and the other Anointed escape their imposed ceiling. Rhubat’s later work develops that rescue into a cultivation path meant for the entire species. (Chapter 682)
• Nonet: Nonet connects Rhubat with Zac during the crusade, helping turn separate resistance efforts into a coordinated campaign. (Chapter 542)
• Wrani: Wrani is Rhubat's captor, an overwhelmingly stronger insectoid cultivator, and a possible guide toward a stronger Zhix path. Her effortless victory and contempt for Rhubat's method attack both their authority and their belief that the hives can define advancement for themselves. (Chapter 1286)
