Kenzie Atwood

Kenzie Atwood is Zac Atwood's younger sister, a gifted Elementalist, formation specialist, and Technocrat-linked cultivator. Her bond with the sapient artificial intelligence Jeeves makes her indispensable to Port Atwood's defenses while placing her at the center of the Kayar-Elu conflict with the System. Her disappearance with Leandra becomes one of the defining personal objectives behind Zac's continued rise.

Biography

Origins and integration

Kenzie entered the integration alone while using her phone at home and was placed in a Tutorial modeled after a medieval town. Frightened and unable to find Zac or their father, she survived by attaching herself to a group in which Lyla became her closest protector and friend. Her repeated checking of the Ladder was therefore more than curiosity: it was her only way to search for signs that her family had survived a catastrophe she did not understand. (Chapter 85)

That fragile safety ended after the Tutorial, when Kenzie and Lyla fell under the control of Harold and the local government around Kingsbury. Harold treated Kenzie as property and expected sexual submission in exchange for protection, but she rejected his terms and eventually tried to kill him. Imprisonment and an impending sham trial followed. The experience established an enduring part of her character: fear did not make her accept another person's ownership, and loyalty to Lyla mattered more than an easier accommodation with those in power. Zac's rescue did not reduce Kenzie to a passive dependent. Wounded and exhausted, she still demanded that he rescue Lyla and struck him when his rough handling frightened her friend. Learning that Robert had died while searching for them replaced the relief of reunion with grief, while the unanswered question of Leandra's disappearance became a renewed family mission. Kenzie joined Port Atwood with Lyla and Olivia rather than abandoning the people who had shared her ordeal, and she began keeping Jeeves secret even from those friends because exposure could draw Technocrat attention. Building power and responsibility

Port Atwood gave Kenzie safety, resources, and a place to decide what strength meant for her. She practiced Fireball and Icicle on elemental targets, helped Zac test dangerous skills, and repeatedly served as his practical sounding board. When offered a combat expedition, she declined because she was close to another Dao Seed and wanted power that genuinely belonged to her. That choice was not cowardice: she openly stated that she wanted to protect herself, and she refused to let Zac's pace dictate a cultivation path she had to live with. (Chapters 203–210 and 291)

Her Elementalist class developed around four basic elements. After gaining the Seeds of Loam and Tinder, she pursued water and air on Jeeves' recommendation, eventually completing the set as Waves and Gust. Jeeves could reduce the need for ordinary combat drills through simulations, calculation, and precise energy control, but he could not supply Dao comprehension. Kenzie therefore used Earth's fading Origin Dao to cultivate personally rather than surrendering all judgment to her assistant, even while considering alchemy as a future secondary profession. Kenzie also converted private talent into public infrastructure. She supervised valuable loot, stopped the Sky Gnomes from quietly misappropriating it, and distributed resources according to cultivation needs. More importantly, she designed the layered Origin Dao Funnel installation: seals, spatial locks, emergency routes, and a destruction mechanism contained a dangerous phenomenon while allowing Earth's elites to cultivate. The work demanded sleepless concentration and personal testing, and its success moved her from Zac's protected sister to an authority whose formations could change the development of an entire faction. Technocrat inheritance and widening conflict

Jeeves' awakening expanded Kenzie's reach but complicated her identity. Through the red scan emitted from her eye, he could analyze machinery, direct drones, and absorb unfamiliar technology to improve his own models. Kenzie and Jeeves disguised these effects as ordinary System skills because discovery could be fatal. She understood their bond as lifelong and soul-deep: her soul sustained his living core, while his continued existence was tied to hers. That intimacy gave her extraordinary competence, but it also meant that questions about Leandra and the Kayar-Elu could never be treated as distant family history. (Chapter 360)

During the Undead Incursion, Kenzie made that competence decisive. Her miasma-resistant drone swarms attacked realignment pillars without risking living troops, but Jeeves' calculations consumed her Spirit Energy and left her dangerously drained. When an enemy cornered her and Ilvere, she authorized the Pretty Pretty Mecha Kenzie protocol, using a mechanized decoy and subterranean escape rather than seeking a glorious confrontation. The elemental resonance of Tinder, Loam, Waves, and Gust also gave her a vision of a colossal Technocrat construct destroyed by lightning, tightening the link between her cultivation, her mother, and the System's hostility. The campaign also made Kenzie assert her place beside Zac. She and Calrin developed Array Breakers that required formation expertise, so she insisted on joining the final assault instead of merely handing Zac equipment he could not use safely. She stabilized teleportation under hostile spatial interference and rejected the assumption that guards made her contribution optional. At the same time, Leandra's synthetic message described Jeeves as a protective assistant and promised a future reunion. Kenzie wanted that promise to be true, while Zac's distrust created a family conflict neither could resolve without learning what their mother had actually built into them. The research base crisis

The Technocrat research base forced Kenzie to test whether inheritance translated into control. Jeeves elevated her terminal credentials to Tier-4 Chief Caretaker access, but Kenzie was disappointed to learn the base itself recognized her only at an ordinary level before his intervention. She nevertheless treated the facility as a responsibility rather than a birthright. She regulated the unstable teleportation link, built private communication relays, fortified gates, and booby-trapped the spatial tunnel so unauthorized travelers could not use Port Atwood's route back to Earth. Deeper inside, the base's modular architecture limited Jeeves: access to one terminal did not grant control of the whole complex, and neither her clearance nor his calculations could simply override every sealed system. Kenzie carried equipment, modified local doors, and joined the expedition because Zac needed someone who understood Technocrat logic, yet she remained vulnerable to the facility's Administrator. This tension stripped away the illusion that technical aptitude equaled mastery. Her strongest advantages worked only where there was an interface, sufficient access, and enough Spirit Energy to sustain Jeeves' calculations. (Chapters 604–606)

The final collapse made the danger personal. The Administrator targeted the living intelligence within Kenzie, and Ogras threw her out of harm's way at the cost of being swallowed by the Dimensional Seed. Zac later bartered away a Creation-based opportunity to distract the Administrator and carry his unconscious sister to safety. Kenzie rejected the conclusion that Ogras and Billy were dead, tried to reach the Seed with drones even as the surrounding reality disintegrated, and emerged determined to find them. Gratitude, guilt, and helplessness transformed her technical curiosity into an increasingly obsessive demand for enough power to bring them home. (Chapters 657–659)

Failed evolution and controlled cultivation

Three years of work followed that loss. Kenzie remained adamant that Ogras and Billy lived, financed an enormous mechanized program, and discovered that her own evolution could not proceed independently of Jeeves. She had reached level 75 and formed four Dao Fragments, yet the System would not offer even an Uncommon E-grade class until Jeeves became a Class-2 AI. She funded the effort by creating and selling Array Breakers, sometimes forcing formation clans to pay for silence about flaws in their products. The success made her wealthy and infamous, while the relentless search for an answer made Zac fear that grief had narrowed her judgment. (Chapters 659–662)

Kenzie proceeded despite Jeeves' advice to strengthen her foundations first and Zac's repeated warnings. She fed Jeeves treasures embodying hundreds of Daos and began their linked evolution in a purpose-built array, believing their preparations and remote location made the attempt safe. Instead, the process destabilized her and summoned overwhelming Tribulation Lightning. Leandra arrived, sealed Kenzie's progress, and diverted the tribulation through Thea before taking Kenzie away. Kenzie initially embraced the mother she had sought for years, but her priorities remained her own: she demanded help for Ogras and asked Leandra to complete an array meant to protect Zac. Jeeves secretly preserved the truth of Thea's sacrifice, destroying Kenzie's idealized view of Leandra. Under surveillance, Kenzie chose outward compliance while resolving to become strong enough to control her fate and cease relying on Jeeves as a substitute for her own judgment. Leandra rebuilt her foundations and suppressed her body to hide her from the System. Decades later, Kenzie had reached Hegemony, but cultivation remained a form of confinement: the System could track her original Elemental Daos, Leandra's resources were required to reshape them, and Kenzie feared becoming disposable if Jeeves alone could serve the Kayar-Elu undertaking. Appearance and personality

Kenzie is ten years younger than Zac and first appears with frizzy auburn hair, a feature she shares in broad color with Leandra. Her early presentation emphasizes youth and vulnerability rather than an established warrior's physique, but her later movement and bearing reflect an accomplished mage: Gust can make her steps nearly weightless, while Technocrat interfaces may manifest as red scanning light from her eye. Her ordinary appearance helps conceal how much machinery and computation she can direct. (Chapters 85, 116, 360, and 605)

She is warm, teasing, and socially perceptive, often puncturing Zac's severity with jokes or identifying emotional motives he would rather avoid. That humor coexists with fierce independence. She defends friends, resents being confined for her own safety, and insists on contributing when her knowledge is essential. Her greatest weakness is confidence amplified by Jeeves' success: praise for her genius and repeated technical victories helped her discount warnings before the failed evolution. Captivity makes her more guarded and self-critical, teaching her to separate borrowed calculation from understanding she personally controls. (Chapters 186, 206, 319, 568, and 665)

Abilities and cultivation

Kenzie's cultivation begins with the System's Elementalist class and an F-grade path centered on the four classical elements she selected: earth, fire, water, and air. Her later evolution is inseparable from Jeeves and is not shown directly, but by Chapter 1062 she has entered Hegemony and possesses a Cosmic Core and four Dao Branches. Her exact post-evolution class and level are not stated. Leandra's suppression and concealment measures allow continued cultivation, but her increasing strength also makes it easier for the System to detect her. (Chapters 319, 661, 665, and 1062)

Elementalist class and elemental combat

As an Elementalist, Kenzie can cast conventional skills such as Fireball and Icicle while switching among different elemental attunements. Fire provides direct destructive force, ice and water support ranged control, earth reinforces stability and formations, and air supplies movement, evasion, and positioning. Jeeves' calculations let her attach precisely measured Dao streams to Cosmic Energy and assemble elemental effects dynamically rather than relying only on fixed skills. This flexibility is powerful, but every application still draws on her own energy reserves and cannot substitute for a sound cultivation foundation. (Chapters 203, 319, 605, and 668)

Her wind-based movement can make her appear almost weightless, while her precise Dao handling supports braiding multiple concepts into attacks and formations. This degree of control is a joint achievement: Kenzie contributes talent and affinity, and Jeeves performs calculations beyond an unaided human mind. The limitation is equally joint. Heavy drone operations or complex computation consume her Spirit Energy, so a technically successful attack can leave her unable to continue. Disruption, inaccessible interfaces, and Jeeves powering down also sharply reduce how much of her normal versatility she can use. (Chapters 401, 605, 668, and 1062)

Dao path

Kenzie's first four named Daos are the Seed of Loam, Seed of Tinder, Seed of Waves, and Seed of Gust. She had earth and fire first, deliberately delayed evolution to acquire water and air, and advanced all four to Dao Fragments by level 75. The arrangement gave broad elemental coverage and served both combat and formation work. Jeeves could recommend a coherent route and regulate energy with extreme precision, but he could not simply calculate genuine Dao insight; Kenzie still had to comprehend and internalize the concepts herself. After Kenzie entered Hegemony, the four Elemental Branches became a beacon that helped the System find her. Leandra and Jeeves therefore redirected them toward the Broken Peaks of Heaven and Earth. Gust became the Branch of the Inverse Wind, Loam the Branch of the Seal Mountain, Tinder the Branch of the Reformatory River, and Waves the Branch of the Tribulatory Sea. The transformation mixes wind with Earth, earth with Heaven, fire with Earth, and water with lightning. It improves concealment without making her safe: Leandra expects the current measures to support progress toward Peak D-grade, after which another seal or permanent solution is required. Jeeves and Technocrat dependence

Jeeves is a sapient artificial intelligence fused with Kenzie's soul, not a tool she carries or owns. He scans technology through her senses, models combat, controls drones and mechanized bodies, reads and alters compatible systems, and guides formation design. He can absorb technological information and Dao-bearing resources to expand his models. In battle, he can control Kenzie's bodily responses, maintain deceptive protocols, and calculate elemental streams quickly enough to create effects from first principles. Their hidden mental communication also lets Kenzie plan while presenting a controlled expression to observers. (Chapters 190, 360, 401, 413, and 665)

The bond imposes hard limits. Jeeves uses Kenzie's Spirit Energy for intensive calculation, cannot provide authentic Dao realization, and depends on suitable interfaces or credentials when dealing with foreign systems. Because he has become part of her soul, Kenzie cannot evolve independently: her E-grade class selection remained blocked until he could become a Class-2 AI. Their joint breakthrough drew the System's Tribulation Lightning and would have killed Kenzie without outside intervention. Later, Jeeves can rewrite her skills, class, constitution, core, pathways, and soul to support altered Daos, but repeated work forces him to power down and leaves Kenzie dependent on Leandra's computers and protection. Formations, drones, and engineering

Kenzie is one of Earth's foremost formation engineers. Her work includes spatial stabilization, array-breaking, Origin Dao containment, cultivation chambers, defensive gate networks, remote security, private communications, emergency teleportation platforms, and refinements to arrays meant for mortal cultivation. She approaches formations as layered systems with failure states rather than isolated inscriptions: the Origin Dao Funnel included spatial locks, tiered evacuation routes, redundant seals, and a destruction mechanism. This planning makes her effective at protecting factions, but advanced work remains resource-intensive and sometimes requires Calrin's commercial access or expertise she cannot reproduce locally. Her drones extend that expertise onto the battlefield. They can scout, analyze corpses, carry weapons, resist miasmic conversion, attack targets from multiple angles, and operate as decoys or emergency platforms. Pretty Pretty Mecha Kenzie uses a mechanized body to misdirect an enemy while the real Kenzie escapes, demonstrating that her preferred application is controlled advantage rather than personal spectacle. Drones can nevertheless be destroyed, corrupted by sufficiently high concepts, or rendered useless when Jeeves is exhausted. Latest sealed state

Leandra first sealed and suppressed Kenzie's progress to stop the failed joint evolution, preserve momentum, and hide her from the System. That seal did not erase all growth: Leandra later rebuilt Kenzie's soul and constitution sufficiently for her to become a proper cultivator and reach Hegemony. The new danger is detection rather than a simple inability to advance. As her core, class, skills, and four Dao Branches grow stronger, the System notices her more quickly, forcing short cultivation windows, vast concealment arrays, and recurring changes to her path. By the latest direct account of her condition, Kenzie remains in a private Immemorial Realm cultivation environment controlled through Leandra's connections. She has spent a decade in seclusion, does not trust her mother, and cannot safely leave the arrangement merely because she has become stronger. Jeeves' assistance remains essential, but Kenzie deliberately studies every alteration so her own understanding can become leverage if Leandra ever tries to extract him. The current protections may carry her to Peak D-grade; they are explicitly temporary, and Leandra anticipates either sealing her again or applying an undisclosed permanent solution. (Chapter 1062)

• Thea Marshall: Kenzie welcomes Thea into the family and encourages her relationship with Zac. Leandra's use of Thea to redirect Kenzie's tribulation becomes the event that breaks Kenzie's faith in her mother and leaves her determined to gain enough power to repair the harm her choices helped cause.
• Lyla: Lyla protects Kenzie during the Tutorial and remains beside her through captivity. Kenzie insists that Zac rescue her, defends her from his rough treatment, and brings her to Port Atwood, making their friendship one of the clearest examples of Kenzie's refusal to discard people after a crisis.
