Samantha
Samantha is the head of the Tulip Falls Clan, later called the Tulip Clan, and one of the Dark Faction's five major clan leaders. The corpus gives two spellings of her surname—“Whishheart” and “Wisheart”—without explaining whether either is preferred. Her politics consistently prioritize strength, culminating in a fatal challenge to Raze Cromwell's leadership.
Biography
Dark Faction leadership
Samantha first appears among the clan leaders observing academy affairs, hiding her reactions behind a folding fan while worrying about a favored disciple in the competition. She later attends councils beside the other major heads and argues that the Lethal Bite Clan no longer deserves its place after losing key leadership. Her position is grounded in an alliance-of-strength philosophy: a weakened member, in her view, weakens the faction rather than merely needing protection. (Chapters 134–249 and 480–532)
Challenge to the Dark Magus
When Raze claims leadership after defeating Murkel Dockthron, Samantha refuses to accept that result without testing him. She admits that the old major clans hunted Noctis survivors and argues that Murkel's former dominance made raw power the practical basis of authority. Wearing her fan into the duel, she presses Raze with cutting Qi currents and a returning thrown attack, but he survives her formation-breaking pressure and drives a sword through her stomach. Her body is described as lifeless afterward. (Chapters 723, 799, and 804–807)
Appearance and personality
Samantha habitually covers her mouth with a folding fan, making her expression difficult to read. For her final challenge she wears an icy-blue dress split along her long, slender legs. She is composed in council, protective of her clan's standing, and candid about a political order built on strength. That realism also hardens into stubbornness: she rejects surrender even when Raze offers her the chance to stop. (Chapters 138, 480, and 804–807)
Magic, cultivation, and abilities
Samantha is an experienced clan-head-level Pagna warrior who channels pink Qi through a folding fan. Sweeps of the fan produce wind-like cutting currents, while a thrown form travels through a pink Qi circle, emits a painful screech, and returns to her hand. She can also use the fan as a close defensive weapon. The narration treats these effects as Qi techniques rather than Alterian wind magic, and it does not give their formal style or her cultivation stage. (Chapters 804–806)
Her attacks can force Raze backward and pressure the battlefield at range, but they do not overcome his formations and sword. The fan's unusual sound and returning path broaden her offense without making it unavoidable; Raze withstands the sequence, closes distance, and inflicts a fatal abdominal wound. No later progression or independent healing ability is established. (Chapters 805–807)
Relationships
- Raze Cromwell: Samantha challenges Raze because she doubts that the man who replaced Murkel is strong enough to lead. He repeatedly gives her a chance to yield before killing her in the duel.
- Murkel Dockthron: Samantha serves in the faction order Murkel dominates and uses his victory over the other heads as precedent for strength-based leadership.
- Tulip Clan disciples: Samantha watches academy representatives as a clan head and worries intensely about one “dear disciple,” but the cited scene does not securely identify that student by name.
- Lin and Lulu: Later history associates these women with the conquest that established the Tulip Clan, but the corpus does not fully define Samantha's personal relationship with them.
Items
- Folding fan: Samantha's signature weapon conceals her expressions and channels her pink Qi. She swings it in melee, projects cutting currents, and throws it through a Qi circle so it returns. No separate supernatural origin or later custodian is established. (Chapters 138, 723, and 804–807)
