Kelp
Kelp is the leader of a five-person team of Pagna-born Alter agents assigned to investigate the Dark Magus. Posing as Wanderers, they question restaurant patrons and target Zon, only to be exposed and decisively defeated inside Perfect Noodles.
Biography
Investigation at Perfect Noodles
Alter sends Kelp's team after another agent declines the assignment. Kelp enters Perfect Noodles as a sociable wanderer, buys drinks, and asks leading questions while watching Zon closely. The disguise conceals five capable middle-stage warriors, but Skyler notices their pressure and interrupts when Kelp reaches for a metallic device that Zon says would harm him. Kelp then abandons the quiet investigation and commits the team to a fight inside the restaurant. (Chapters 824–827)
Defeat and interrogation
Kelp's numerical and cultivation advantages do not protect the agents from Zon. Their limbs are broken or mangled, Kelp's legs are ruined, and their Alter devices are confiscated. Bandaged and tied to a chair, Kelp explains that his emergency signal does not summon ordinary reinforcement: it marks a location too dangerous and brings a Deleter. He remains alive with the injured team under Zon's control, but the corpus gives no release, rescue, or later fate. (Chapters 828–829)
Appearance and personality
Kelp has green hair lying flat across his head. He can perform casual friendliness while gathering information, but his watchfulness, calculated questions, and concealed equipment reveal a professional operation. Once exposed, he relies on his team's strength and Alter's escalation procedures. His later answers come under captivity, so they establish information he gives rather than voluntary loyalty to his captors. (Chapters 825–829)
Magic, cultivation, and abilities
Kelp and his agents are Pagna-born middle-stage warriors rather than Alterian mages. They conceal their strength while posing as Wanderers and can exert substantial Qi pressure, but the fight is so one-sided that the corpus does not establish a named personal technique or Kelp's exact substage. Zon counters them through overwhelming physical control and precision, leaving their cultivation unable to change the outcome. (Chapters 825–829)
Relationships
- Zon: Kelp investigates Zon as a possible route to the Dark Magus. Zon identifies the threat, defeats the team, confiscates its devices, and interrogates Kelp.
- Skyler: Skyler recognizes the visitors as dangerous and intervenes before Kelp can use the metallic implement. Their clash helps expose the team but Zon decides it.
- Alter: Kelp works as a field-team leader and carries its identity and emergency equipment. The Deleter signal shows that his organization can answer failed reconnaissance with lethal escalation.

- Alter identification device: A white device marked with a golden “I” identifies Kelp's allegiance after Zon confiscates it. No further function is demonstrated. (Chapters 828–829)
- Emergency signal disc: Kelp carries a device capable of marking the area for a Deleter when a mission is judged too dangerous. Zon prevents its successful use and takes it. (Chapters 828–829)
- Metallic pen-like implement: Kelp reaches for a narrow device during the questioning; Zon identifies it as harmful. Its precise mechanism is never demonstrated, so it should not be labeled a proven truth or interrogation device. (Chapters 826–828)
