Joe

Joe is a Dark Faction Academy student who survives the academy's factional violence alongside Tinson and Violet. Acknowledging that they cannot match the strongest students directly, the trio train under Cronker and become the core of a specialized stealth and assassination unit.

Biography

Surviving the academy conflict

Joe first appears as a frail-looking student who rushes to Tinson with Violet after the academy group is divided. The three stay together while stronger Red Headband disciples form shifting alliances, prioritizing survival over status. During the later attack, they are among only six Red Headbands left alive, backed against a wall and reacting defensively rather than pretending they can defeat the surrounding enemies. (Chapters 267–352)

Survival gradually turns into active solidarity. Joe fights beside the older student group when newcomers challenge them and follows Tinson and Violet into danger when academy allies need support. He is not singled out as their strategist, but his repeated choice is consistent: he remains with the same two companions and joins collective resistance rather than separating to seek personal advancement. (Chapters 353–446)

Training as a specialist

Cronker takes the trio as disciples and teaches them stealth techniques associated with the Crimson Crane. They accept the specialization because their direct strength is below that of Raze's leading fighters and they still want a useful role. At the faction tournament, Joe arrives with Cronker, Tinson, and Violet to support Raze; all four are pierced by Akron's black substance, demonstrating that surprise and mobility do not protect them from every unfamiliar power. (Chapters 481–685)

Joe later serves as a rapid messenger and field operative. He delivers Rayna's urgent warning about the Demonic Faction, appears with the black-clad Night Force to catch and extract the injured Brack, and reports within the Dark Faction's command structure. By Chapter 932, Cronker has expanded the Dark Hand to ten members, with Joe, Violet, and Tinson identified as its original trained core; no later death or departure is established. (Chapters 832–932)

Appearance and personality

Joe is introduced as a frailer boy and later remains identifiable by the red headband of his academy group. As a Night Force operative he wears black clothing with the red headband, visually marking the blend of student identity and assassin role. The corpus provides no stable details for his hair, eyes, or height. (Chapters 267 and 854)

His characterization is chiefly collective: cautious enough to survive when stronger students die, loyal to Tinson and Violet, and willing to train in an unglamorous specialty because it can help the wider group. He is capable of urgency in the messenger role, but the corpus does not establish a detailed private motivation, ideology, or independent leadership ambition. (Chapters 304, 352, 610, and 832)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Joe is a Pagna warrior with the Qi-based strength expected of a Red Headband student. Early scenes show no named personal technique and emphasize that he cannot win direct exchanges against the strongest attackers. He nevertheless develops enough conventional combat ability to join the veteran students in repelling a newer group with a single coordinated counterattack. His exact cultivation stage remains unstated. (Chapters 352–375)

Under Cronker, Joe learns stealth movement and assassination arts intended to make a less powerful fighter useful through concealment, speed, positioning, and surprise. The training produces the Night Force and later the larger Dark Hand. Joe can appear quickly beside allies, carry urgent intelligence, and participate in extracting wounded fighters. The chapters do not show a named assassination move, a confirmed kill by Joe, or mechanics beyond the stated stealth-focused instruction. (Chapters 481, 610, 832, 854, and 932)

Relationships

  • Tinson and Violet: Joe's most sustained relationships are with the two students beside whom he survives, trains, and operates. The trio become Cronker's original specialist disciples and remain the core of the later unit.
  • Cronker: Cronker recognizes that the three need a role suited to their level and trains them in stealth and assassination arts. Joe continues serving in the force as it expands.
  • Raze Cromwell: Joe belongs to the student force that repeatedly supports Raze. At the faction tournament, he arrives with his teammates to stand around Raze and defend him.
  • Brack: Joe, Tinson, and Violet catch and remove Brack when he is wounded, applying their rapid team movement in a rescue rather than an assassination. (Chapter 854)

Items

No named or individually notable item is established for Joe. His black Night Force clothing and red headband identify his unit, but the corpus assigns them no enchantment, grade, or independent power.
