Exid

Exid is the Sea Kingdom of Shimuin's transforming magic armor, made principally from orihalcon and produced in grades ranging from common suits to Dragonheart-powered national treasures. It equips the Violent Tide Knights and was later adapted for Lionheart warriors, most notably Carmen Lionheart. (Chapters 224, 240, 336, and 464)

History

Shimuin's royal armor

Exid first appears on Scalia Animus and Dior Hyman in the Lehainjar snowfields. Their pale-purple orihalcon armor marked them as Shimuin royal knights, with the Violent Tide Knights' waves and whirlpool on the chest and Scalia's suit additionally bearing the royal eagle. The armor could cover the wearer's body and retract its helmet without forcing the wearer to remove the suit. (Chapters 224–225)

Shimuin produced multiple grades, with high-grade examples made by dwarves. Three exceptional suits incorporated fragments of a Dragonheart and were treated as national treasures. Ortus Hyman wore one as commander of the Violent Tide Knights, Scalia received another for the campaign against Fury, and Ortus held the third until choosing a trusted borrower. Carmen's loan and reconstruction

Ortus agreed to lend the unassigned Dragonheart Exid to Carmen. Its anti-theft magic protected Shimuin's ownership, while its performance let Carmen fight directly against the Demon King of Fury. Mana released from the Dragonheart supported her close combat even under the battle's extreme conditions. (Chapters 359 and 374)

Gondor and other dwarven craftsmen later reinforced Carmen's suit with Raizakia's purified scales and leather. The resulting black-and-silver armor was known first as White Flame Dragon and also as the Demon-Dragon Armor. It deployed from a thin underlayer, formed clawed limbs, endured attacks that badly injured nearby fighters, and supported Carmen's transformed combat style. (Chapters 452, 461, 472, and 498)

The craftsmen also modified Shimuin Exids for Gilead and other Lionhearts, while the Violent Tide Knights continued fielding their own suits. Carmen retained her customized Exid into the invasion of Babel, where she deliberately extended its normally rapid transformation and changed its color and presentation to match her new Grim Reaper identity. Abilities and properties

• Orihalcon inherently protects its wearer from many forms of harm even before separate inscriptions or enchantments are considered. Exid combines that material with Shimuin's advanced armor craft. (Chapter 224)
• The armor can remain as a thin garment beneath clothing and then deploy across the body in approximately three seconds. Sections such as the helmet can open or shift in response to the wearer's will. (Chapters 224, 471, 461, and 577)
• Exid is a category with substantial variation, not one uniform suit. Lower and higher grades coexist, and only the three national-treasure suits are confirmed to contain Dragonheart fragments. (Chapters 240 and 336)
• A Dragonheart core supplies mana and greatly raises performance. Carmen's armor used that energy offensively and defensively, while Ortus believed wearing his suit would materially change his combat capability. (Chapters 240, 358, and 374)
• Dwarven modification can integrate dragon scales and leather, change limb structures, and tailor a suit to a wielder's techniques. Carmen's claws and Dragon-Lion transformation were products of such customization. (Chapters 452, 461, and 472)
• Crafting a new dragon-material Exid requires specialist knowledge, proper workshops, and months of work. Even Gondor judged a quick full suit impractical without those conditions. (Chapter 351)
