Jafar

Jafar, fully named Jafar Animus in the corpus, is a prince of Shimuin and third in line to the throne. He accompanies the expedition against Iris to gain prestige and strengthen his political prospects, but his ambitions depend on the danger remaining safely manageable by the force around him. Biography

Shimuin and the Demon King of Fury

Jafar boards the royal flagship expecting a difficult but assured victory over pirates. He plans to remain in the rear while claiming the honor of participation, and his interest in Ciel Lionheart also carries the political possibility of marriage into a prestigious foreign family. When Iris becomes the Demon King of Fury, his calculation collapses: he pleads for an escape route, tries to stop Ortus and Scalia from advancing, and ultimately hides aboard an evacuation vessel during the battle. Ortus consequently refuses to credit him with merit, while Scalia's corrupted impulses nearly make him a target of murder. Jafar survives, returns with the expedition, and later appears beside Scalia in Shimuin's victory celebrations. (Chapters 354–356, 360, 364, 374, 383, and 391)

Appearance and personality

Jafar has red hair, an ill-suited beard, and armor that appears equally ill-fitting. Under mortal pressure his face is shown drenched in sweat, with tears gathering in his eyes. He is politically ambitious, entitled, and opportunistic, willing to borrow others' danger for his own prestige. The emergence of a true Demon King exposes his lack of courage, while his treatment of Scalia shows a longstanding cruelty expressed through contempt and gossip rather than direct combat. Abilities and powers

Jafar has trained in swordsmanship, but Ivic Slad assesses it as no better than a hobbyist's practice. No scene shows Jafar successfully fighting, using sword-force, casting magic, or commanding a power-system technique. His political rank grants him protection and a place in the expedition, but it is not combat ability; once the mission becomes a battle against a Demon King, he retreats to safety and contributes no demonstrated martial feat. Relationships

• Scalia Animus: Jafar is Scalia's older half-brother. He despises her low-ranking maternal background and continues gossiping about her into adulthood; she usually obeys him, but defies him during the Fury campaign and, while mentally corrupted, considers killing him. (Chapters 354, 364, and 374)
• Ciel Lionheart: Jafar sends Ciel invitations that she ignores and watches her through an enchanted telescope during the voyage. His apparent courtship also offers a possible route to foreign prestige, but Ciel has no interest in him. (Chapters 354–360)
• Ortus Hyman: Ortus is responsible for Jafar's safety as a Shimuin commander, yet rejects the prince's wish to retreat and later rebukes his attempt to claim merit after hiding through the battle. (Chapters 364 and 383)
