Gion Lionheart
Gion Lionheart is the youngest brother of the Lionheart main family's patriarch, Gilead. He serves his family as both a teacher and a Knight of the Black Lion, eventually commanding the order's Fifth Division. His cheerful manner coexists with an explicit willingness to undertake the clan's dangerous and disreputable work. (Chapter 52)
Biography
Aroth and the Black Lions
Gion helps Gilead Lionheart train the main family's children and becomes one of Eugene Lionheart's principal instructors during Eugene's first years at the estate. He judges Eugene capable of traveling to Aroth without an escort, later accompanies the clan's Guardians there, and voluntarily joins the Knights of the Black Lion because he wants to support his elder brother even if that service requires him to enter the clan's “darkness.” Over the following years he rises to captain the Fifth Division and advances from the Sixth to the Eighth Star of the White Flame Formula. He survives the final war and remains with the Lionheart family afterward. (Chapter 618)
Appearance and personality
Gion has the Lionheart family's gray hair, described as so pale that it is almost white, and a youthful face paired with a more mature atmosphere. He is cheerful, lively, and free-spirited, treats servants and knights kindly, and teaches without discriminating between the main and collateral branches. He is also fiercely loyal to Gilead and sober about the morally compromising duties that loyalty can entail. (Chapter 52)
Abilities and powers
Gion is an accomplished swordsman whose skill is described as surpassing Gilead's because of his sustained training. He practices the White Flame Formula, stands at the Sixth Star during Eugene's early time in Aroth, reaches the Seventh Star as Fifth Division captain, and later attains the Eighth Star. In the battle against Destruction, his sword can scatter the enemy's flames, although the effort injures him. (Chapter 608)
