Dior Hyman

Dior Hyman is the son of Ortus Hyman and the knight assigned as Princess Scalia's aide. Although he holds no conspicuous senior rank, he deliberately conceals skill comparable to Shimuin's renowned warriors and repeatedly places duty ahead of displaying his ability. (Chapters 224–240 and 342–383)

Biography

Shimuin and the Demon King of Fury

Dior accompanies an exhausted Scalia across the Lehain snowfield, prepares shelter, explains her worsening insomnia, and follows when concern outweighs her order to stay behind. When the mentally compromised princess attacks the Lionhearts and then him, Dior blocks her full-force sword-light without losing position and decides to subdue rather than injure her. Noir's remote influence disables both combatants, but Dior survives. He later serves Scalia during the Pirate Empress expedition, quietly keeps watch when she behaves suspiciously, and remains one of the people she recognizes she would have murdered under the Demon King's influence. The evidence shows continued duty and survival, but no later promotion or final office. (Chapters 224–227, 342, 356–359, 374, and 383)

Appearance and personality

Dior first appears in Exid armor with a helmet that obscures his face. The corpus identifies him as twenty-three during the Shimuin period but supplies no stable hair, eye, build, or facial description, so those details are unknown. His controlled posture and concealed output make his lack of visual prominence part of his deliberate presentation as an ordinary aide. (Chapters 224, 240, and 342)

He is calm, observant, dutiful, and discreet. Dior worries about Scalia without publicly exposing her illness, accepts her sharp orders, and intervenes when she becomes dangerous. His loyalty has practical limits: Scalia recognizes that he follows her on the battlefield partly to monitor her rather than out of unquestioning devotion, which is consistent with his obligation to Shimuin and his father as well as to the princess personally. (Chapters 224–225, 357, and 374)

Abilities and powers

Dior is a skilled knight who can freely control mana to regulate his body and relieve fatigue. He detects Eugene's distant gaze, hides his strength, and produces sword-light superior to Scalia's during their snowfield clash, deflecting her late-drawn full-force attack without losing balance. He is still vulnerable to supernatural mental interference: eye contact with the power acting through Scalia freezes his body and leaves him unconscious despite his martial advantage. (Chapters 225–227, 342, 356–357)

Relationships

  • Scalia Animus: Dior is Scalia's assigned aide and monitors her declining state across the snowfield and later expedition. He protects others from her rampage, tries to subdue her without harm, and continues following her when trust alone is insufficient. (Chapters 224–227, 357, 374, and 383)
  • Ortus Hyman: Ortus is Dior's father and a First Knight of Shimuin. Other knights recognize Dior's hidden skill through that lineage, but Ortus judges his son not yet ready to receive the family's most important responsibility and avoids granting it merely through nepotism. (Chapters 342, 356, and 359)
  • Ciel Lionheart: Ortus proposes meetings between Dior and Ciel, apparently as prospective courtship, but Ciel never accepts. Their demonstrated personal interaction is limited to the snowfield crisis and shared expedition; no mutual romance is established. (Chapters 224–227 and 342)
