Alchester Dragonic

Alchester Dragonic is the patriarch of the Dragonic family, commander of Kiehl's White Dragon Knights, and a duke recognized by the emperor as the empire's best knight. A descendant of Orix Dragonic and former student of Carmen Lionheart, he preserves the Empty Sword and later fights with the Divine Army. (Chapters 163–179 and 464–608)

Biography

The Hunt and the Holy Empire

Alchester arrives in Ceres after the Rakshasa Princess incident as the emperor's right-hand man and commander responsible for imperial security. Although initially defensive about the authorities' failure to detect the dark elves, he accepts the Lionhearts' innocence and apologizes. A later competition between the White Dragon and White Lion Knights brings him into closer contact with Eugene Lionheart. He welcomes Eugene to the Dragonic estate, lets him teach Leo, and personally passes on the family's Empty Sword despite its secret status. In the subsequent wars he leads imperial forces, takes a place in the general staff, and refuses to flee from Destruction even after admitting fear. (Chapters 163–179, 464–473, 509–576, and 599–608)

Appearance and personality

Alchester is a handsome man with red hair and blue eyes. His ordinary demeanor can seem timid, sociable, or even foppish, especially around Carmen and his much-indulged son Leo. Once he draws his sword, that impression disappears into an extreme sharpness that Eugene considers unusually well matched to his weapon. He is serious about chivalry, proud of his lineage without resenting improvement by outsiders, and openly delighted when Eugene advances the Empty Sword beyond his own level. Abilities and powers

Alchester manifested sword-force before age twenty, won Kiehl's Imperial Martial Arts Tournament at twenty-one, and is widely judged one of the continent's strongest knights. The Empty Sword begins with a small amount of processed mana, draws ambient mana into an enlarged sword-force, and then stabilizes it through alternating condensed layers. Alchester can stack eight layers. The method is efficient but loses control and density, weakens with time, performs poorly where ambient mana is scarce, and remains less durable than its size suggests. (Chapters 163–176)

He also learned hand-to-hand combat from Carmen and commands knights in formation rather than acting only as a duelist. His later equipment includes dragon relics and wartime armor, but no cataloged personal item is assigned to him in the supplied inventory. His ceiling is explicit: Eugene eventually applies Empty Sword at a level Alchester cannot match, which inspires further effort rather than jealousy. (Chapters 170, 466–473, and 509–576)

Relationships

• Carmen Lionheart: Carmen taught Alchester martial arts when he was five and continues to address him as a junior. He is embarrassed by her childhood stories but trusts her ability and judgment. (Chapters 163–170)
• Eugene Lionheart: Alchester warns Eugene against recklessness, later teaches him Empty Sword, and takes pride when Eugene transforms the family technique into something greater. They serve together in the Divine Army's campaigns. (Chapters 163–179, 471, and 599–608)
• Ariartelle: Ariartelle watches over the Dragonic line because its founder received power from her father. Her concern for Alchester brings her to the Liberation Army, where she supplies him with a dragon relic sword. (Chapters 176–177 and 466)
