Bebe's Black Dagger

Bebe's Black Dagger is a godspark weapon given to Bebe by Beirut. It serves as Bebe's regular close-combat blade and can also receive a separate spirit pearl containing Beirut's power, turning it into a far more dangerous trump card. (Chapters 453, 456, and 499)

History

Beirut's gift and Bebe's weapon

The dagger first appears in Bebe's hands while he helps shape stone furniture, and it soon becomes his normal weapon in lethal combat. The narrative subsequently identifies it as a gift from Beirut. Bebe uses it against Gods during the struggle in the Necropolis and later draws it when an opponent produces a blade of his own. (Chapters 453, 456, and 471)

The spirit-pearl attack

When Salomon threatens Linley and Delia, Bebe reveals a separate black pearl and inserts it into a matching opening in the dagger's handle. A blue aura covers the weapon, space trembles around it, and Bebe launches it as a black streak that tears open space. Elquin intercepts the attack, but the collision drives him back and destroys the Highgod artifact glove he had nurtured for a trillion years. Bebe explains that the force came from power Beirut stored in the pearl and that he merely followed the activation instructions; the feat therefore does not represent the dagger's ordinary output or Bebe's unaided strength. Cutting through the Amethyst Mountains

Bebe later uses the dagger as both a tool and a weapon in the Amethyst Mountains. It cuts into rock that resists his full-force punch, chips amethysts from an amethyst beast, and carves away a substantial piece of another beast's body. Those results demonstrate the blade's baseline material sharpness without reproducing the spirit-pearl attack. (Chapters 514, 516, and 517)

Abilities and properties

• The dagger is a godspark weapon. It can cut extremely durable material, including the rock of the Amethyst Mountains and the bodies of amethyst beasts; Bebe also states that it can break through Highgod artifacts. (Chapters 514, 516, and 517)
• A fitted spirit pearl lets the weapon channel power stored by Beirut. The resulting flying strike tears open space and destroys Elquin's long-nurtured Highgod artifact glove, but the source explicitly attributes that power to Beirut rather than to Bebe or the dagger alone. (Chapter 499)
• Its cutting power is not unlimited: Bebe can only chop a chunk from the unusually resistant mountain rock, and wounds inflicted on amethyst beasts regenerate rapidly. (Chapters 514, 516, and 517)
