Robin

Robin is a wild-boar lycanthrope ranger who guides In-gong's party beyond lycanthrope territory and through the western approaches to Spider Forest.

Biography

Guide through the Western Forest

Robin joins the expedition because he knows nearly all of the western terrain from memory. He advises the royal party where carriages must give way to travel on foot and initially expects the road near Spider Forest to be peaceful, based on his visit six months earlier. When the forest proves unnaturally silent, he does not defend that old assessment: he confirms that the conditions are unprecedented, explains the rangers' monthly patrols, and scouts the camp with Carack. The green moon's influence then drives Robin, Seira, and Caitlin temporarily mad; Felicia blinds and binds them before anyone is killed. Once Robin recovers and learns how much worse the danger has become, he obeys Felicia's order to leave in beast form and request further help. He is later reached through the Black Flame Dragon's communicator, but the chapters do not state his individual movements after that contact. (Chapters 85–89, 94, and 96)

Appearance and personality

Robin is explicitly a wild-boar lycanthrope. The narrative does not describe his humanoid features, clothing, or exact appearance in beast form. He carries a sword during the green-moon incident, but the scene occurs while he is under an external maddening influence. (Chapters 85, 87, and 89)

He is competent, cautious, and polite. Robin appears uncomfortable riding in a carriage but remains attentive to In-gong's condition, answers questions about patrols and terrain directly, and promptly revises his expectations when evidence changes. His formal treatment of Carack partly comes from mistaking Carack's excellent armor and familiarity with royalty for noble status. (Chapters 85–86)

Powers and abilities

Robin's principal demonstrated skill is ranger fieldcraft: detailed terrain memory, route planning, knowledge of patrol patterns, and camp scouting. As a wild-boar lycanthrope, he can assume a beast form and uses it for travel when sent to call reinforcements. The corpus does not name that form, quantify its speed, show a voluntary combat transformation, or establish a personal aura technique. His sword use while maddened proves that he can handle the weapon, but not a named style or special power. (Chapters 85–89)
