Galang

Galang is one of the Gullam clan's three leading hunters, a giant guide in the deep forest of Curtis, and an early giant witness to In-gong's identity as Drakon Kechatulla.

Biography

Guide and Hunter at Curtis

Galang receives In-gong and Felicia as the Gullams' best hunter and is assigned to guide their ruin expedition. Because the destination lies beyond the clan's usual hunting ground, he warns that outsiders often underestimate its danger and initially doubts the young royals' judgment. Felicia's reminder that they are children of the demon king makes him reassess them rather than continue arguing. He leads five Gullam hunters into the deep forest, carries Felicia, detects ambushes from plants, beasts, and wyverns, and clears the rear after combat. When In-gong displays Dragon Breath, Galang recognizes the ancient title Drakon Kechatulla and supplies the Gullam legend of the dragon incarnation who fought the red serpent god. His caution thus develops into religious respect grounded in a tradition the royal party did not know. (Chapters 153–156)

Inside the ancient giant barracks, Galang senses the same nonverbal call as In-gong and the other Gullams. He kneels involuntarily when In-gong draws the Giant King's Sword, then continues with Felicia's group toward the 12th base and later witnesses the sword's command arrest the Paran offensive. In the final crisis, Galang fights with the Gullam and Paran forces and tries to save Belovaki by throwing his spear at an attacking monster. The throw is initially too slow, but In-gong's distant arrival renews the giants through the Giant King's Sword; Galang's spear then pierces the monster's head and he remains alive. This is external battlefield empowerment, not an apostle appointment; the corpus does not say whether any benefit persists. (Chapters 157, 162, 164, and 225)

Appearance and personality

Galang is a muscular male giant about ten meters tall, dressed in animal skins and described with small black eyes. His great size is normal for the Gullams and other Curtis giants rather than a temporary transformation. He often carries smaller companions on his back or shoulder during the expedition. He is taciturn, serious, cautious, and quick-witted. Galang worries about exposing inexperienced-looking royals to the deep forest, immediately understands Felicia's warning about their authority, and then cooperates without resentment. His reticence also makes his report of the call inside the ruins credible to his companions, while his reverence for Drakon Kechatulla reflects Gullam tradition rather than sudden flattery. Powers and abilities

Galang possesses the size and strength of a Gullam giant, a clan whose leading hunters fight the enormous monsters of the deep forest and are credited with exceptional individual combat power. He demonstrates keen danger perception, route knowledge, guard discipline, and the ability to carry allies while traversing giant terrain. His weapon skills include spears and the Gullam hunters' normal melee arms; his final spear throw crosses the distance to a monster's head once the Giant King's Sword renews him. The sword's command and empowerment affect Galang as a giant but belong to In-gong's relic, and the corpus gives Galang no apostle status, named technique, or confirmed permanent magical enhancement.
