Zi Yan

Zi Yan first appears as the Inner Academy's immensely strong, treasure-seeking girl, unaware that she is the missing royal heir of the Ancient Void Dragons. Her friendship with Xiao Yan accompanies her transformation from the academy's “Brute Force Queen” into the Dragon Emperor who reunifies her divided tribe. (Chapter 533; Chapters 1269–1312, 1457–1559)

Biography

Pan's Gate and the Inner Academy

Zi Yan appears as the Inner Academy's small, white-clothed top-ranked student, physically overwhelming but ignorant of her exact species and origins. She wants medicinal ingredients and pills, seeks relief from isolation, and is drawn to Xiao Yan because his alchemy can turn the treasures she senses into food she values. She bargains with Xiao Yan, finds rare ingredients, joins his circle, competes in academy battles, and repeatedly supplies brute-force protection during the Fallen Heart Flame crisis. (Chapters 533–670)

Her teasing pill-for-ingredient exchange with Xiao Yan becomes sibling-like loyalty; Su Qian had brought her to the academy after finding her alone, and Pan's Gate gives her a peer group. She becomes a dependable member of Xiao Yan's academy coalition and begins advancing through accumulated medicinal energy. The solitary 'Brute Force Queen' gains friends and a purpose beyond scavenging, though her heritage remains unresolved. (Chapters 533–670)

The Yan Alliance and the Poison-Sect War

Zi Yan accompanies Xiao Yan back to the Jia Ma Empire and then through the Poison-Sect and Black-Corner wars. She wants to remain with the people she trusts and reacts fiercely when companions are threatened. She aids alliance battles, advances in the secluded valley, uses her bloodline pressure against Magical Beast remains, and attacks enemies after seeing Xiao Yan or companions harmed. (Chapters 671–945)

She develops an easy affinity with Cai Lin's Heaven Swallowing Python nature and a protective bond with Xiao Yan and the Little Fairy Doctor. Her unexplained bloodline repeatedly proves more important than her academy rank, foreshadowing her Ancient Void Dragon identity. Her strength progresses while flashes of royal pressure and transformation make clear that she is not an ordinary Magical Beast. (Chapters 671–945)

The Pill Gathering and the Star-Realm Flame

Zi Yan reappears in the Pill Realm under Xiong Zhan's protection and then joins the attempt to subdue the Three Thousand Burning Flame. She wants to help Xiao Yan and recognizes a dragon-linked means of controlling the flame. She gathers or consumes rare medicinal ingredients, mediates with Xiong Zhan, and establishes the Dragon Seal connection used during the Three Thousand Burning Flame struggle. (Chapters 1173–1208)

Xiong Zhan fears her extravagant appetite but protects her; her dragon connection gives Xiao Yan a decisive advantage over the flame. The sealed flame is subdued, and Zi Yan's draconic identity becomes explicit rather than merely suspected. She begins moving from unexplained Magical Beast prodigy toward royal Ancient Void Dragon heir. (Chapters 1173–1208)

Ancient Remains and Yao Chen's Restoration

In the Beast Region, the divided Ancient Void Dragon clan searches for its missing royal bloodline while Zi Yan enters the ancient remains with Xiao Yan. She acts first to aid her friends, then must accept responsibility for a clan fragmented by the former Dragon Emperor's disappearance. She helps secure the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit, returns to Ancient Dragon Island, endures the fruit's crystal transformation, awakens Dragon Phoenix power, and is recognized as Dragon Emperor. (Chapters 1234–1312)

Hei Qing and the eastern island recognize her royal lineage; Xiao Yan helps refine the crystal layer when the transformation stalls; rival dragon kings reject her claim. She gains Dragon Phoenix Ancient Armor and authority, but the tribe remains divided and war becomes unavoidable. The pill-seeking academy girl assumes a sovereign identity and the burden of restoring her people. (Chapters 1234–1312)

The Hall Chief's Challenge and Dragon Reunification

The Ancient Void Dragon tribe is still divided among rival kings, with hostages and civil war threatening Zi Yan's claim. She seeks to end the division, rescue loyal dragons, and protect both the tribe and Xiao Yan's coalition. She returns to battle the rival dragon kings, mobilizes royal bloodline authority and Dragon Phoenix strength, reunifies the tribe, and later supports the final struggle through her dragon-seal connection with Xiao Yan. (Chapters 1457–1559, 1615–1644)

Her conflict with the three dragon kings is dynastic and personal; her connection to Xiao Yan remains a cross-faction bond even after she becomes sovereign. The Ancient Void Dragon tribe is reunited under its Dragon Emperor and becomes a major allied power. Her latest state combines sovereign responsibility with the loyal, direct temperament established at the academy. (Chapters 1457–1559, 1615–1644)

Appearance and personality

First appears as a small white-clothed girl with long pale-purple hair, creating a sharp contrast with her extraordinary physical force. (Chapter 533)

Blunt, food-driven, and mischievous around medicinal ingredients, but violently protective when friends are hurt. (Chapters 533, 543, 867, 1173, 1177)

Can assume an adult or immense draconic form; later royal bearing coexists with her familiar directness. (Chapters 1194, 1196, 1301, 1308, 1478, 1483)

Abilities and cultivation

Ancient Void Dragon body and royal bloodline

Origin and mechanics. Inherited as the missing royal heir of the Ancient Void Dragon clan; her exact identity is unknown to her during the academy years. The bloodline grants overwhelming physical strength, spatial talent, draconic transformation, and pressure over other Magical Beasts; several exact operating details remain unexplained. It enables extreme close-combat power, durable transformations, spatial travel or manipulation, and suppression or recognition based on bloodline. (Chapters 533, 577, 933, 1194, 1208, 1269, 1312, 1457, 1559)

Applications and interactions. Direct combat, crossing space, intimidating Magical Beasts, and asserting dynastic authority. Her bloodline resonates with dragons, the Three Thousand Burning Flame's dragon form, and the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit. Representative uses include overwhelming academy opponents in Chapters 533–577, exerting bloodline pressure in Chapter 933, and asserting royal power during the Dragon Island conflicts in Chapters 1301–1312 and 1478–1483. (Chapters 533, 577, 933, 1194, 1208, 1269, 1312, 1457, 1559)

Limits and development. Early immaturity and ignorance restrict deliberate use; major transformations consume strength, and rival royal dragon kings can contest political authority even if they cannot erase her lineage. Unexplained academy strength becomes explicit dragon power, then develops into Dragon Emperor authority. At the latest confirmed point, she is Dragon Emperor of a reunited Ancient Void Dragon tribe. (Chapters 533, 577, 933, 1194, 1208, 1269, 1312, 1457, 1559)

Treasure sensing

Origin and mechanics. An innate talent present before she knows her ancestry. She can locate unusually valuable natural treasures and medicinal ingredients; the corpus demonstrates the sense but does not fully explain its range or sensory channel. She demonstrably finds rare ingredients that ordinary cultivators miss. (Chapters 533, 543, 1173, 1179)

Applications and interactions. Supports Xiao Yan's alchemy and her own appetite for concentrated medicinal energy. Pairs with Xiao Yan's refining skill: she supplies ingredients and he turns them into pills. Representative uses include ingredient hunts in Chapters 533–543 and gathering in the Pill Realm in Chapters 1173–1179. (Chapters 533, 543, 1173, 1179)

Limits and development. Detection does not itself safely harvest, refine, or identify every object's full properties. The sense remains a recurring utility from the academy through later treasure regions. At the latest confirmed point, she retains it alongside her mature dragon abilities. (Chapters 533, 543, 1173, 1179)

Dragon Phoenix transformation and armor

Origin and mechanics. Awakened by absorbing the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit on Ancient Dragon Island. Dragon and phoenix energies form a crystal layer, then integrate into her body; Xiao Yan's flames help resolve the stalled outer crystal. The later armor is a bodily/bloodline manifestation, not a separate possession. It greatly raises her physical power and defense and produces Dragon Phoenix Ancient Armor. (Chapters 1247, 1250, 1301, 1308, 1478, 1483)

Applications and interactions. High-level combat against rival dragon kings and other top experts. Combines royal Ancient Void Dragon blood with the fruit's phoenix component and responds to Xiao Yan's Heavenly Flames during refinement. Representative uses include her transformation in Chapters 1301–1308 and combat in the dragon-king war in Chapters 1478–1483. (Chapters 1247, 1250, 1301, 1308, 1478, 1483)

Limits and development. Initial absorption traps her within a resistant crystal layer and requires external assistance. The power progresses from incomplete encasement to controlled armor and a sovereign battle form. At the latest confirmed point, she has mastered it as a defining Dragon Emperor capability. (Chapters 1247, 1250, 1301, 1308, 1478, 1483)
