Xun Er is the Gu clan's heiress and Xiao Yan's closest childhood companion. Sent into the declining Xiao clan to investigate its ancient jade, she instead protects the clan's secret and makes respect for Xiao Yan's choices the foundation of their relationship. Later descriptions emphasize an ethereal, lotus-like beauty and a controlled elegance that draws attention at Jia Nan Academy and within the Gu clan. As an adult she often wears pale-green or elegant light clothing, while her rainbow-gold clan tattoo appears on her forehead when the divine bloodline rite is completed. She gives Xiao Yan the last three forms—Overturning Land, Sky Burying, and Ancient God—after he has already learned Open Mountain and Sea Flipping. Her broader fighting style combines accurate energy control, agility, spatially forceful strikes, and careful assessment of opposing ranks. In the academy she evades Xiao Ning without strain, detects hidden guards, restrains her public aura, and works within a four-person formation. As a Dou Sheng she can defeat a two-star fire slave, attack alongside other Saints, and contribute to large-scale ancient-clan battles. The exact names and activation mechanics of most ordinary attacks are not supplied, so their demonstrated effects should not be expanded into an invented school of techniques. Xun Er is powerful but not invulnerable. At peak Dou Zun she needs a coalition to contain a Ban Sheng puppet; at two-star Dou Sheng she cannot tear through the sealed demonic-flame realm; and even her largest named flame attack cannot defeat Zhu Kun. Her later advanced four-star rank makes her one of the coalition's elite combatants without placing her beside peak nine-star Dou Shengs or Dou Di. Long before she holds a formal command, Xun Er operates an intelligence network through Ling Ying and other Gu agents. She orders discreet surveillance, distinguishes intervention from monitoring, investigates Xiao Zhan's disappearance and the Hall of Souls, and withholds sensitive jade information from factions that might exploit it. These capabilities depend partly on her status, but her use of them reflects personal judgment: she repeatedly narrows orders to preserve Xiao Yan's autonomy and redirects clan resources toward threats rather than private convenience. Her later authority over the Black Submerged Army converts that judgment into battlefield command. During the jade theft she dispatches a mountain-wide search, evaluates the infiltrator's rank, calls the army's Spirit Restraining Net, and coordinates the younger Gu experts while senior figures maintain the defensive formation. The net's failure against an enemy familiar with its weaknesses reveals the limit of institutional tactics. Xun Er adapts by personally pursuing and surrounding him, although Hun intervention ultimately allows the fragment to escape. (Chapters 1585–1592)

At her latest demonstrated state, Xun Er combines advanced four-star Dou Sheng cultivation, the rainbow-gold tattoo's temporary amplification, a top-ranked inherited Heavenly Flame, Gu seal training, intelligence access, and command experience. She can protect or lead continent-level factions, but the final conflict still depends on coalition structure and Xiao Yan's Dou Di inheritance. Xiao Yan

Xun Er's relationship with Xiao Yan begins in childhood and survives his fall because she values his character before his power returns. She protects him without taking over chosen contests, conceals the ancient jade from her clan, and repeatedly accepts separation so both can reach the standing needed to reunite safely. They become intimate partners during the Central Plains and Gu Realm arcs, co-refine the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, and marry after the final war. Their bond develops from secret childhood loyalty into a publicly recognized family and political alliance. (Chapters 1–17, 97–106, 280–351, 406–584, 1104–1118, 1316–1648)

Gu Yuan

Gu Yuan is both Xun Er's father and the authority responsible for preserving her divine bloodline. His clan's expectations restrict her travel and make Xiao Yan's strength politically consequential, but he does not simply erase her choice. After observing Xiao Yan's development, he accepts the relationship and entrusts him with tasks essential to the ancient clans' survival. Xun Er's maturation consists partly of bringing filial duty and her chosen partnership into alignment without surrendering either one. (Chapters 1118, 1316–1371, 1583–1644)

Ling Ying

Ling Ying acts as Xun Er's guardian, intelligence agent, and trusted elder from her years in the Xiao clan onward. She relies on him to follow Xiao Yan's journeys, intervene against lethal danger, investigate the Hall of Souls, and report developments that Gu politics prevent her from witnessing. He understands both her reserved public demeanor and the depth of her attachment, while she trusts him with orders whose concealment from the wider clan is essential. Yao Lao

Xun Er senses that Xiao Yan has a hidden teacher early but refrains from investigating because Xiao Yan has not invited it. Yao Lao in turn recognizes her extraordinary background and allows her protective agents to remain concealed. Their mutual caution eventually becomes family trust: she seeks information about his capture, supplies Xiao Yan with the power and intelligence needed to survive, and later fights beside Yao Lao in the demonic-flame realm. By that campaign, he accepts her openly as Xiao Yan's partner rather than an unknown clan observer. (Chapters 45, 280–281, 784, 1108–1112, 1498–1524)

Little Fairy Doctor

Xun Er initially measures the Little Fairy Doctor as both a formidable ally and an emotional rival. Their first Central Plains exchanges carry mutual probing, but Xun Er's rescue protects her from Ice River Valley and the two women prioritize Xiao Yan's survival over jealousy. Later campaigns place them within the same coalition, where the Doctor's poison abilities and Xun Er's bloodline flame serve different needs. Xun Er's acceptance is deliberate rather than effortless, showing her ability to subordinate private tension to trust in Xiao Yan and shared danger. (Chapters 1104–1118, 1415–1433)

Cai Lin

Xun Er knows of Cai Lin through intelligence reports long before they can speak as equals. She reacts with hurt when Xiao Yan finally explains the relationship, but chooses to remain with him rather than pretend the history can be undone. During the final coalition war, Xun Er and Cai Lin stand together as elite fighters and members of Xiao Yan's family. Both marry him after Hun Tiandi's defeat, making cooperation and shared survival the final condition of a rivalry neither woman allows to destroy the alliance. (Chapters 281, 1370, 1603, 1611–1648)

Hu Jia and Wu Hao

Hu Jia and Wu Hao begin as academy rivals but become Xun Er's teammates in the qualifier, Fire Energy hunt, and Pan's Gate. Their friendship gives her a community not defined by Gu bloodline or childhood attachment: the three share risks, resources, and responsibility for new students. Years later, Hu Jia's spontaneous embrace when Xun Er returns to Jia Nan Academy confirms that the academy bonds survived long separation and the enormous rise in their respective status. Tuo She Ancient God Jade

Xun Er is associated with two fragments of the jade through custody, protection, and knowledge rather than simple ownership. Her original Gu assignment is to identify or recover the Xiao clan's piece, but after recognizing it in Xiao Yan's possession she neither takes it nor tells her clan where it is. She instead warns him to conceal it until he can defend himself, making her an active protector of Xiao custody despite the Gu clan's competing interest. (Chapters 479–481, 571, 784, 1110–1111)

The Gu clan's own fragment is held institutionally in its Ancestral Hall. During the Hun clan's assault, Xun Er commands the search and attempted recapture after the infiltrator removes it, but the fragment escapes and completes the enemy's set. These episodes should not be conflated: Xun Er never personally owns Xiao Yan's piece, and her authority over the Gu fragment is exercised as a clan commander during a custody crisis. The blood-jade contact token Xun Er gives Xiao Yan and the golden scroll containing the last three God Seal forms are important transfers, but neither is a persistent item in her later inventory. The token gives Xiao Yan a channel to reach Gu support, while the scroll becomes his training resource.
