Lin Xiuya
Lin Xiuya is one of Jia Nan Academy's most admired students: a composed wind-affinity swordsman, founder of Wolf Teeth, and longtime rival of Liu Qing. His encounters with Xiao Yan steadily turn competitive curiosity into respect, culminating in his decision to leave the academy and fight beside him in the Jia Ma Empire. (Chapters 484, 510–512, 585, 623–624, 667–670)
Biography
Inner Academy elite
Lin Xiuya first appears in person leading a group of Strong Ranking experts against the Snow Demon Sky Ape that guards Core Quenching Body Milk. He keeps the anxious group focused, assigns the weaker Han Yue to watch their surroundings, and coordinates the attack rather than treating the expedition as a collection of individual duels. His confidence is genuine but measured: the team wants a cultivation opportunity before the Grand Competition, yet he recognizes that none of them can safely face the beast alone. (Chapters 510–511)
The expedition displays both his leadership and the boundary of his strength. Lin Xiuya uses wind to hold himself aloft and launches Green Killing Tornado, but the effort drains him and the ape's violent bloodline breaks through the group's assault. Back at the academy, his second place on the Strong Ranking and the continuing prestige of Wolf Teeth establish him as one of the defining students of his generation. He later becomes a five-star Dou Wang and an Inner Academy elder. (Chapters 511–512, 522, 580, 585, 623)
Rivalry becoming allegiance
Xiao Yan's return from beneath the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower makes the altered balance between them unmistakable. Lin Xiuya eagerly accepts a public test, yet Xiao Yan burns through his wind-blade defense and stops a hand at his throat in a single exchange. Lin Xiuya is disappointed but neither resentful nor evasive; he concedes, recognizes the scale of Xiao Yan's growth, and continues treating him as a peer worth following. (Chapters 623–624)
When Xiao Yan prepares to return to the Jia Ma Empire, Lin Xiuya and Liu Qing jointly propose a final condition: defeat them and they will become his fighters. Their coordinated positioning and attacks show how far the former rivals have learned to cooperate, but Xiao Yan defeats them within five exchanges. They accept the result without protest and leave Jia Nan Academy with him, choosing the risks of the Misty Cloud conflict over the security and status they already possess as academy elders. (Chapters 667–668, 670)
Appearance and personality
At his physical introduction, Lin Xiuya is a handsome man of about twenty-six or twenty-seven, dressed in green and carrying a green longsword. His easy smile, elegant bearing, and lack of youthful swagger explain why students consider him unusually charismatic; even the arrogant Lin Yan speaks of his strength with respect. The same composed presentation remains visible after he becomes an elder. (Chapters 510, 522, 581)
That charm rests on tactical self-command rather than simple polish. Lin Xiuya can calm a divided expedition, direct allies under pressure, and promptly admit when an opponent has surpassed him. He is proud enough to seek difficult tests but not so proud that defeat becomes an excuse. His brief, unreturned interest in Xun Er also exposes a less assured side: her indifference leaves him flustered despite his usual social ease. (Chapters 510–512, 580–581, 623–624, 667–668)
Abilities and cultivation
Wind-affinity swordsmanship
Lin Xiuya channels dark-green wind Dou Qi through a longsword, producing rotating currents, cutting wind blades, and energy constructs. Near the Dou Wang boundary, his unusual Qi Method lets him form temporary Dou Qi wings before he has truly crossed the realm; they provide aerial leverage and save him from the Snow Demon Sky Ape, but consume a large portion of his strength. By Chapter 623 he is explicitly a five-star Dou Wang who can form an energy longsword and a wind-blade web. (Chapters 510–512, 522, 623–624)
-
Green Killing Tornado: Lin Xiuya's major attack against the Snow Demon Sky Ape compresses wind around his enlarged sword and sends a green energy blade downward with enough force to drive the beast's ice-covered body into a large crater. The technique is powerful but costly, and the enraged ape soon survives it and defeats him with one blow. (Chapters 511–512)
-
Green Submerged Sword Strike: During Jia Nan Academy's defense, he throws a wind-sheathed sword accompanied by multiple rotating storms at Fan Lao. The speed forces the Dou Huang to defend, but the attack cannot break through the opponent's blood energy, and the counterattack badly injures Lin Xiuya. (Chapter 597)
His fighting style benefits from space, movement, and coordinated pressure. Liu Qing's direct attacks complement his wind mobility, and by their last academy duel the pair can cover each other's angles well enough to challenge Xiao Yan together. Even so, the Snow Demon Sky Ape, Fan Lao, Xun Er, and the returned Xiao Yan each demonstrate that technique and experience cannot close a decisive gap in raw cultivation. (Chapters 512, 580, 597, 623–624, 667–668)
