Liu Qing

Liu Qing, known as the “Tyrant Spear,” is one of Jia Nan Academy's strongest students and the longtime rival of Lin Xiuya. His initial connection to Xiao Yan comes through a dispute involving his cousin Liu Fei, but direct competition produces respect rather than a lasting grudge. He later follows Xiao Yan west and becomes head of the Liu clan in Tianhuang City. (Chapters 492, 529, 575–580, 667–670, 1041–1045)

Biography

Tyrant Spear of the Inner Academy

Liu Qing's reputation reaches Xiao Yan before he does: students describe a top-three Strong Ranking fighter whose Mountain Splitting Spear is feared throughout the academy. When he finally confronts Xiao Yan after the quarrel with Liu Fei, he does not attack an exhausted opponent or excuse his cousin's conduct. Instead, he postpones their conflict to the Grand Competition, where both can fight at full strength, turning a family grievance into a test governed by the academy's rules. (Chapters 492–493, 529)

Their tournament fight is severe enough to redefine both men. Liu Qing matches Xiao Yan in close combat, survives the Angry Buddha Lotus Flame, and finally brings out the Mountain Splitting Spear and Great Splitting Rock. The collision with Xiao Yan's Flame Splitting Tsunami leaves both unconscious, and the match is ruled a draw. Liu Qing's pride survives, but so does his respect: he has treated Xiao Yan as an equal and later admits that Xiao Yan's subsequent growth has left him far behind. (Chapters 575–580, 641)

Volunteer fighter and clan head

After becoming an Inner Academy elder and Dou Wang, Liu Qing joins Lin Xiuya in volunteering for Xiao Yan's return to the Jia Ma Empire. The two ask only that Xiao Yan defeat them first; when he does so within five exchanges, Liu Qing accepts the gap without complaint and leaves the academy beside him. This choice converts their former rivalry into a concrete obligation, placing Liu Qing in the expedition against the Misty Cloud Sect rather than leaving him as an admirer at a safe distance. Years later, Liu Qing is the calmer head of the Liu clan in Tianhuang City and an established Dou Huang. He contests the Cheng clan for management of the city's Wormhole, welcomes Xiao Yan's unexpected intervention, and uses his clan's regional knowledge on Xiao Yan's behalf. At Xiao Yan's request he identifies Xin Lan's Ye clan, gathers news of the injured Little Fairy Doctor and the Ice River Valley, provides a Middle Region map and space boat, and promises the Liu clan's protection despite openly acknowledging its limited power. Appearance and personality

Liu Qing is a tall, powerfully built man with a resolute face, thick eyebrows, and a dark-black heavy spear nearly as tall as he is. His figure, weapon, and aura all create the same “tyrant” impression when he enters the Fighting Arena. By the time he leads the Liu clan, the youthful sharpness has settled into the controlled authority expected of a clan head. (Chapters 529, 1042)

He is proud, direct, and protective of family, but not indiscriminately vindictive. Liu Qing checks Liu Fei when her insults go too far, refuses to exploit Xiao Yan's injured state, and places their dispute inside a fair competition. Once defeated, he keeps his word; later, his old bluntness becomes an asset in friendship, visible when he accepts Xiao Yan's difficult intelligence request and offers help without ceremony. Abilities and cultivation

Close combat

Liu Qing combines exceptional physical strength, combat experience, and pale-golden Dou Qi. Even without drawing his spear, he can redirect Xiao Yan's Heavy Xuan Ruler, receive the weapon's weight with his hands, and press a close-range exchange hard enough to force Xiao Yan onto the defensive. His Great Rift Coffin Splitting Claw breaks the hidden force of Octane Blast and follows with a sustained series of claw strikes capable of deforming Xiao Yan's flame armor. (Chapters 575–576)

Mountain Splitting Spear

The Mountain Splitting Spear is Liu Qing's dark-black heavy weapon and the trump card he originally saved for Lin Xiuya. Drawing it sharpens his entire presence and marks his recognition that an opponent deserves his full strength. With it he performs Great Splitting Rock, concentrating golden energy at the spear tip before releasing a destructive strike described as reaching the edge of the Di class; its collision with Xiao Yan's attack wrecks the arena and leaves both fighters seriously injured. Liu Qing is a peak Dou Ling during the Grand Competition, later becomes a Dou Wang elder, and is a Dou Huang by the Tianhuang City arc. Lin Yan reports that Liu Qing was already a three-star Dou Huang when they separated and estimates that he may have reached seven stars, but the later figure is explicitly an estimate rather than a confirmed measurement. Xiao Yan's speed remains a decisive weakness for him: in their later two-against-one test, even his coordination with Lin Xiuya cannot prevent defeat within five exchanges. Relationships

• Xiao Yan: Their connection begins in hostility over Liu Fei, becomes mutual recognition after a tournament draw, and matures into service and reciprocal clan support. Liu Qing later supplies Xiao Yan with regional intelligence, transport, and a standing offer of refuge. (Chapters 529, 575–580, 667–670, 1042–1045, 1065–1066)

• Lin Xiuya: A longstanding rival whose mobile wind style contrasts with Liu Qing's direct force. They become practiced partners as Inner Academy elders and make their final challenge to Xiao Yan together. (Chapters 522, 580, 585, 597, 641, 667–668)

• Liu Fei: His cousin and a member of the Liu clan. Liu Qing protects her from Xun Er's attack but also rebukes her excesses and refuses to turn her quarrel into an unfair assault on Xiao Yan. She remains beside him when he later leads the Liu clan. (Chapters 492–493, 529, 1042)
