Varyn

Varyn, the God of the Abyss, rules a realm powered by millions of corrupted souls and plans to exploit Alex Rogue's exile there. Chapter 301 repeatedly spells his name “Valyr” while continuing the same battle, form, motives, and relationships; this article treats that isolated spelling as Varyn rather than a separate character. Biography

A Chosen One trapped in the Abyss

Varyn learns immediately when Morgathis redirects Alex into the Abyss and watches through a divine panel as the human resists corruption. He intends to let Alex lose his mind and become an Abyss Watcher, but recognizing Kaelios's World Cleaver changes that patience into direct intervention. Varyn expects that killing the Chosen One will weaken Kaelios, creating an opportunity to eliminate Destiny before the coming conflict among gods. (Chapters 294–296)

When Alex reaches the Seventh Layer, Varyn arranges a stacked confrontation rather than fight alone. Morgathis attacks first and dies; Varyn then calls Lorien, his level-2000 Chosen One, and creates an arena for paired battles. He directs Lorien against Astolf while personally facing Alex, relying on the Abyss's darkness, mental pressure, and the bond that makes either god or Chosen One a strategically decisive target. True form, severance, and death

Varyn reveals that his resource is the supply of corrupted souls imprisoned in the Abyss and claims the millions there remove any practical limit. He immediately transforms into the five-meter Abyss Controller: a four-armed, many-eyed creature whose two scythes and magic overwhelm Alex. He uses Darkness Pulse, mind reading, and the Forbidden Absolute Abyss while Lorien kills Astolf, leaving Alex apparently trapped and moments from execution. The “Valyr” spelling occurs only during this uninterrupted phase. (Chapters 300–302)

Alex's World Cleaver targets the Abyss itself instead of either opponent, severing the realm's connection to Varyn and Lorien. Varyn loses his monstrous form, divine state, weapons, and access to corrupted souls, then watches Alex kill Lorien. With Fated Cataclysm counting down beside him, he reveals that the twenty-five worlds will merge and that all gods obtaining Chosen Ones has triggered the Chosen Games. The explosion kills him, leaving only his crown to be extracted. (Chapters 303–305)

Appearance and personality

Varyn's ordinary body is humanoid and carries a crown, but his most detailed appearance is the Abyss Controller true form. It stands roughly five meters tall with four arms, two Scythes of the Damned, two magic-wreathed hands, hundreds of eyes across the torso, and a gaping mouth where a head should be. Shadows, cracking bones, and distorted air accompany the transformation before severance forces him back into human shape. (Chapters 294, 297–300, 303–305)

He is cruel, theatrical, strategic, and supremely confident within his own realm. Varyn enjoys watching prisoners become corrupted, openly explains his seemingly inexhaustible power, and prefers overwhelming advantages to honorable combat. His confidence becomes alarm when World Cleaver threatens the Abyss, then weakened defiance after the severance. Even facing certain death, he regains enough composure to unsettle Alex with the truth about the Chosen Games. (Chapters 294–305)

Skills and system abilities

Varyn draws power from Corrupted Souls, a formal resource supplied by the millions of beings cursed to his realm. Within the Abyss he controls darkness, reads minds, projects visions, corrupts victims into puppets, uses Darkness Pulse, summons abyssal forces, and strengthens the Forsaken by Light condition. His true form wields two Scythes of the Damned while its other arms cast magic, combining physical force with the realm's constant pressure. (Chapters 294–302)

Absolute Abyss is his Forbidden Skill and is described as an unavoidable victory once its conditions are met inside the Abyss while Varyn is in his ultimate form and the target's surrounding darkness has grown sufficiently. This dominance depends on the realm rather than an independent reserve. World Cleaver's cut through the Abyss therefore removes his divine state, prevents his weapons and abilities from manifesting, and leaves him physically helpless. (Chapters 302–305)

Relationships

• Lorien: Lorien is Varyn's Chosen One and fights Astolf on his command. Their bond makes Lorien's death weaken Varyn, although the prior severance has already stripped both of Abyssal power. (Chapters 297–305)
• Morgathis: Morgathis serves Varyn and exiles Alex into his realm. Varyn uses the dragon as the first guardian in the Seventh Layer and refuses to intervene when Alex kills him. (Chapters 294–298)
• Alex Rogue: Varyn intends to corrupt or kill Alex and thereby weaken Kaelios. Alex instead cuts Varyn away from the Abyss, kills Lorien, and executes the powerless god. (Chapters 294–305)
