Undead Lord

The Undead Lord is the skeletal ruler of Undead Land and a rival claimant to Astolf. He allows Alex Rogue to leave his failing realm after testing the human's strength, but Lich later extracts and enslaves his essence before Alex can prevent it. The ruler is distinct from Alex's identically named talent and the loyal Undead Lord unit that talent eventually summons. (Chapters 56–57, 329, 419, and 494)

Biography

Ruler of a dying Undead Land

The Undead Lord occupies the bone throne of Undead Castle while his realm dwindles to fewer than one hundred inhabitants. When Alex arrives seeking an exit, the lord treats him as an offensive mortal trespasser and clashes verbally with Astolf, whom he calls a traitor despite the king's claim to be Undead Land's rightful ruler. Alex's warning that Lich intends to enslave every undead unsettles him, but he refuses to trust information alone and summons an undead warlord to test whether Alex deserves to survive. Alphox destroys the test opponent; the lord accepts allied strength as valid proof, grants Alex continuing passage through Undead Land, and lets him depart rather than pursuing the threatened alliance. Lich's seizure of the throne

Much later, Alex returns with the Annihilation Crucifix intending to kill the Undead Lord before Lich can claim him. He finds the castle almost empty and the ruler slumped on his throne, his once-burning eyes dark, his armor and bones cracked, and his body unresponsive. The remains collapse into dust at Alex's touch. Alex concludes that Lich arrived first and extracted the lord's essence, turning the loss of Undead Land's ruler into a major expansion of the necromancer's army rather than a simple death that would end his power. Enslavement and final destruction

During the final confrontation, Lich calls the captured Undead Lord his second-strongest servant and summons him as a darker, corrupted counterpart to the separate Undead Lord under Alex's command. The enslaved ruler fights with a black bone sword and necromantic hands, restraining and beginning to overwhelm Alex's summon while Lich presses the larger battle. Alex then orders his own unit to activate Crown of Undead; the empowered summon breaks the bindings, crosses the battlefield, and decapitates Lich's Undead Lord. The corrupted body crumbles into dust, ending the original ruler's forced service. (Chapters 493–498)

Appearance and personality

The Undead Lord is a tall skeletal figure in dark, tattered robes, with eyes that glow like molten fire and skeletal hands capable of wielding a massive dark blade. His deep, echoing voice and overwhelming aura reinforce the authority of his throne, while his contemptuous humor, pride, and hostility toward Astolf show a ruler unwilling to concede legitimacy even as his population collapses. His fear at the name Lich is quickly masked by suspicion and a demand for proof. Under Lich's control, his form appears darker and more corrupted; when Alex finds the abandoned body beforehand, its rusted armor, cracked bones, and empty eyes instead convey exhaustion and defeat. Skills and system abilities

The ruler's exact level and rank are hidden when Alex inspects him, although Alex judges him to be at least a Tier-6 boss. His authority is tied to Undead Land: he controls access to the realm, refines Alex's token so that it permits travel, and can call an undead warlord from a split in the throne-room floor. Necromancy and skeletal manifestations

After Lich takes his essence, the corrupted Undead Lord retains necromantic combat abilities.
