Alice Starfield

Alice Starfield, known in Universal Descent as StarPillow, is an elite archer and Alex Rogue's earliest partner in the altered timeline. Her exceptional accuracy, ice and blood arrows, evolved spatial archery, and readiness to fight independently keep her near the top of the player rankings. Beyond combat, she becomes the emotional center of Alex's expanding household and helps turn a tense collection of allies into a cooperative family.

Biography

First partnership and survival

Alice enters Universal Descent as the sheltered but capable daughter of Richard Starfield, already level 3 and equipped with the SS-level Star Archer talent. Although she has taken only limited real-world archery lessons, she handles a bow with instinctive precision and quickly ranks among the leading players. A Bear King exposes the danger of fighting at range without room to maneuver, but Alex saves her from its charge. Alice responds by introducing herself and inviting him into a party rather than retreating to safer beginner content. (Chapters 6–7)

Their partnership is initially unequal because Alex possesses experience Alice cannot explain, while she still panics when stronger enemies close the distance. Even so, she covers him against ambushes, follows him through the Goblin Secret Area, and asks to remain in contact outside the game. Shared danger becomes personal trust, and the side effect of a Talent Evolution Fruit accelerates their intimacy. Alice subsequently shares a villa with Alex, making their relationship part of their real-world lives rather than a temporary alliance between player identities. (Chapters 8–14, 26, and 47)

Alice's importance also makes her a target. Dawn, Lucas, and Sato exploit an artifact to send silver-skin killers after her in the real world because harming Richard's daughter would weaken his family. Alex prevents the assassination, but the attempt demonstrates that Universal Descent can already reach beyond its apparent game boundaries. Alice continues fighting rather than withdrawing, earns fifth place during the Dawn City event, and accepts Alex's protection when threats exceed her level even when she dislikes being told to hide. Their bond develops through both reliance and her growing insistence on contributing. (Chapters 38–46)

Dark Dungeon and the Fox Tribe

The Bow of the Ice Queen gives Alice the equipment needed to close part of the gap with Alex. She wins it from a Fate Gift Box, gains powerful ice bonuses and Glacial Rain, and then enters the Dark Dungeon despite understandable anxiety about its higher floors. Alex slows the advance so she can gain experience rather than simply clearing everything himself. Alice progresses from level 26 and Tier 1 to level 46 and Tier 2, and repeated fights build the confidence that her early boss encounters had shaken. (Chapters 68–70)

Their route brings Alice into contact with the Fox Tribe, where her protective instincts initially appear as watchfulness toward Alera and Lilith. She nevertheless accepts their hospitality and begins treating the village as a place of rest rather than a disposable quest location. When her advancement task is difficult, she completes it without demanding that Alex abandon the tribe's impending crisis to assist her. Her willingness to let him pursue his own obligations marks a more mature partnership in which support does not require constant proximity. (Chapters 80–90)

Alice then develops Blood Arrows Creation after the Blood Moon events. The technique initially fails when insufficient blood is available, forcing her to understand that its power depends on material gathered from monsters. Against the Blood Valley Wraith, accumulated blood produces thirteen arrows whose amplified damage changes the battle. Alex rewards her contribution with a Skill Upgrade Orb, and she evolves Celestial Shot into Sparkling Star Shot. By the time they return to the Fox Tribe, Alice has both a specialized armor set and an offensive system capable of threatening enemies far above ordinary archers. (Chapters 100–104)

Advancement and the academy contest

At level 99, Alice receives a Tier 4 advancement task requiring her to kill three Crossroad Plains elites alone, with a bonus for using only Blood Arrows. She separates from Alex to complete it, demonstrating that his role is now preparation and advice rather than direct rescue. Alice succeeds at the main task but loses the bonus after mistakenly using another arrow type. The imperfect result is important to her development: she advances through her own combat while accepting that strength does not make every decision flawless. (Chapters 115 and 118)

Alice continues toward the Tier 5 threshold while balancing Universal Descent with obligations to her father. She participates in business meetings because she has a genuine aptitude for the work, then returns to fight angels beside Alex. When Seraphiel kills her, she respawns and immediately asks Alex to bring her back rather than treating death as a reason to stop. Reaching level 250 sends her into another advancement task, preserving her position as an active high-ranking player even when Alex's unusual growth increasingly exceeds hers. (Chapters 121, 133–136, and 145)

The Golden Star Academy examination turns Alice's private competitiveness into a public test. She enters determined to place within the top three, clears floors alone with speed and precision, and holds second place behind Alex. Aurelia repeatedly challenges her, and Alice's patience gives way to a lethal Blood Arrow after four confrontations. Her hostility is partly protective suspicion around Alex, but she does not remain fixed in it. Once Alex proposes Aurelia as a useful ally, Alice accepts the three-person party and helps bring the underleveled assassin through higher floors. (Chapters 151–165)

Angels, Overlord City, and the Golden Star Festival

Alice's role in the party is not passive ranged support. During the fight with three angels, she divides enemy attention, freezes several opponents with Ice Torrent, and continues firing even when the angels recognize Alex as the decisive target. After Artemis kills Alex, Alice attacks the vastly stronger angel despite knowing she cannot win, responding to his dismissal with open fury. Alex later fuses an extracted angelic bow with her Glacial Requiem, giving her the Divine Requiem of the Frost Angel and a stronger frost-and-divine barrage. (Chapters 171–177)

The search for Dragonheart Essence exposes Alice to threats her improved bow cannot solve alone. She uses different arrow types against Shadowheart Sanctum creatures and Nivran, but a soul attack leaves her unconscious and close to a dangerous threshold. Alex asks Alera to kill her so respawning will clear the condition without a player-kill penalty. Alice awakens healthy in the real world, returns to the village, and thanks Alera for carrying out the frightening remedy, yet the experience leaves her newly afraid of soul damage and of Alex's death-based solutions. (Chapters 178–184)

Alice nevertheless continues beside Alex and Aurelia through Overlord City and the Golden Star Festival. She supplies precise cover against the city's wardens, refuses to abandon Alex when enemies press him, and uses the Divine Requiem while searching for the source of the festival attack. In the festival arena, she and Aurelia fight as competitive equals rather than enemies; Alice finally wins with a Blood Arrow after testing ice and star attacks. Their rivalry becomes a friendship based on shared danger, training, and the recognition that neither woman needs to diminish the other to remain important. (Chapters 190–215)

Spatial evolution and tower farewell

Alice consumes a Talent Evolution Fruit to strengthen Star Archer and gains Space Arrows plus the artifact-level Arrow Black Hole. The acquisition immediately creates a crisis: Berserk Frenzy takes control for thirty minutes, and she kills Aurelia while nearly striking Alera and Lilith before Alex restrains her. When the state ends, Alice is horrified by the damage and promises to make amends. The incident separates the permanent talent evolution from its temporary side effect while showing how quickly a desired upgrade can endanger the family she is trying to protect. (Chapter 221)

She soon proves that the new arrows can be used deliberately. A Space Arrow requires three seconds to transform from a Star Arrow, but it can distort reality and inflict damage on far stronger targets. Against Infernos, Arrow Black Hole expands into an indiscriminate vortex that pulls enemy, allies, and Alice herself toward it for twenty seconds. Her inability to control the effect forces her to recognize distance and battlefield geometry as limitations, even as the victory raises her from level 329 to 336. (Chapters 224 and 229–231)

After the tower battles, Alice's changing relationships matter as much as her levels. She reassures Aurelia that discovering an unexpected family connection changes nothing between them, preserving the friendship that began in hostility. Alex then shares attributes and equipment with Alice and Aurelia before leaving for his blessing and the Dragon Bloodline Trial. Alice is frightened by the length and danger of his absence but refuses helplessness: she promises that the group will not disappoint him and rallies the fox villagers to become stronger while he is gone. (Chapters 242–245 and 249)

Reunion and a shared household

Alice does not appear directly during Alex's wars in the Abyss, Dragon City, the Grand Mage Order, or the Hatred Sect. Her next documented scene comes when he finally returns to the Fox Tribe Village. She listens as he recounts the destruction and alliances created during his absence, reacting with disbelief but also recognizing the exhaustion beneath his report. The reunion reestablishes the village as Alex's emotional home and Alice as one of the people whose continued safety gives his victories meaning. (Chapters 412–413)

When Alera jokingly claims the title of wife, Alice ends the resulting uncertainty by declaring that all four women are Alex's wives and that jealousy need not divide them. The choice formalizes a household that had developed informally across earlier arcs. Alice does not demand seniority as Alex's first partner; instead, she gives Aurelia, Alera, and Lilith equal standing. Her decision turns previous romantic tension into an explicit commitment to cooperation and gives Alex another concrete reason to survive the approaching Chosen Games. (Chapter 413)

Alice also helps make room for Arcelia after the Soul Curse is removed. She welcomes the displaced princess into the Fox Tribe rather than treating her as a rival, and by the following day the original four wives are described as stronger and friendlier than before. Alice's wish to bring the Universal Descent members to Earth shows that she already imagines the household continuing beyond the village. The reunion therefore develops from relief at Alex's return into a broader plan for shared life across worlds. (Chapters 414–415)

Final meeting before the Chosen Games

Near the Chosen Games deadline, Alice remains at the Fox Tribe training grounds with Aurelia and Lilith while Alera and Arcelia spar. She greets Alex warmly but quickly notices that his return carries a heavier purpose. When he explains the divine battle ahead, Alice recognizes the danger without dismissing it or pretending that confidence guarantees survival. Her question about his plan is practical: she wants to know how the person holding their futures intends to act when preparation is no longer possible. (Chapter 458)

The worldwide countdown transforms that concern into immediate fear. Alice stays beside Alex and asks what he will do as panic spreads through every connected world. His answer—protect everyone he can—matches the role she has watched him build since their first novice battle. Alice does not attempt to stop him, and the group turns instead toward protecting the village and supporting one another. Her response reflects mature trust: she understands both the necessity of his decision and the possibility that it will take him away permanently. (Chapter 458)

In the final minute, Alice gently pulls the hesitant Arcelia into the group's embrace so that no one faces the apparent end alone. She then asks Alex directly whether he truly has to leave and whether he will return. His silence supplies the answer he refuses to falsify. Alice and the others accept the farewell, crying as he asks them not to forget him and is transported away. Her last act before the Games is therefore neither combat nor dependence, but the deliberate inclusion of a newcomer in the family Alex is fighting to preserve. (Chapter 459)

Victory and life on Earth

After Alex wins, Alice embraces him and admits that watching his soul shatter made her believe he had finally died. Relief restores her usual confident humor, and she calls him her husband while the group listens to what the Games revealed. The system then opens travel among Universal Descent, Earth, and the other twenty-four worlds. Alice immediately sees the domestic possibility inside the cosmic change: Alera, Lilith, and Arcelia can finally come to Earth and live with the rest of the household. (Chapters 509–510)

On Earth, Alice takes responsibility for helping the newcomers adjust. She proposes showing them technology, shopping for clothes, visiting restaurants, and finding a larger home, translating a destabilizing interworld merger into ordinary shared experiences. When Arcelia worries that she does not belong, Aurelia answers first, but Alice's earlier insistence on a united family frames the acceptance that follows. Her contribution is not political authority; it is making an unfamiliar world feel livable to people who have lost their original homes. (Chapter 510)

Ten years later, Alice remains one of Alex's five wives and helps raise a household of ten children in peace. Her son Lucien has small wings, and the children treat all five women as mothers rather than dividing themselves by birth. Alex later secures angelic and dragon bloodlines for every wife, extending their lives for tens of thousands of years, though the corpus does not specify Alice's exact lineage or new abilities. Her story ends with the competitive young archer as a long-lived mother within the cooperative family she helped define. (Chapter 512)

Appearance and personality

Alice first appears tall and slender, wearing worn leather armor that leaves her pale arms and thighs exposed. Her eyes become sharp and predatory when she concentrates, and her accuracy makes the bow feel natural despite her limited formal training. Later she uses wearable fox ears as a cosmetic, including during the Golden Star Festival and Alex's farewell. Her signature late-stage weapon is the frost-glowing Divine Requiem of the Frost Angel. (Chapters 6–7, 176–177, 214, and 249)

She is cheerful, affectionate, competitive, and emotionally direct. Alice can be anxious when danger overwhelms her range advantage, but fear rarely keeps her from returning to a fight. Her protectiveness of Alex initially sharpens into jealousy toward Aurelia; sustained cooperation changes that suspicion into friendship. She also resists being treated as baggage, seeks high leaderboard positions, and takes pride in developing strength that remains hers even when Alex supplies information or equipment. (Chapters 7–11, 39, 151–165, and 214–224)

Alice's generosity becomes most visible within the household. She accepts Alera and Lilith rather than competing with them, reassures Aurelia after a destabilizing revelation, defines all four partners as equal wives, welcomes Arcelia, and pulls her into the final embrace. Her optimism does not erase fear: soul damage and Alex's apparent final departure genuinely terrify her. Instead, she responds to fear by strengthening relationships and imagining a shared future, a tendency that continues when she helps the Universal Descent members settle on Earth. (Chapters 183–184, 244, 413–415, 458–459, and 509–512)

Skills and system abilities

Alice is a ranged specialist whose power develops through the SS-level Star Archer talent, upgraded shot skills, ice-aligned bows, monster-blood ammunition, extreme agility, and an evolved spatial-arrow branch. Her accuracy and positioning let her threaten enemies above her level, but the corpus repeatedly preserves the archer's basic weaknesses: she needs distance, time to create or nock some arrows, and enough control over the battlefield to avoid catching allies in her strongest area effects. (Chapters 6–8, 68–104, 151–179, and 214–231)

Star Archer and foundational shots

Star Archer is an SS-level talent that infuses Alice's basic archery with stellar power. Star Shot is her earliest named attack, and ordinary archer shots consume no mana, but arrows must still be created and fired, leaving a close-range and timing vulnerability. Alice offsets those limitations through exceptional precision and later Super Agility. Her starting shot develops through Celestial Shot into Sparkling Star Shot after she uses a Skill Upgrade Orb; the evolved attack is stated to deal 50,000 damage per arrow at acquisition. (Chapters 6–8, 70, and 103)

Her broader early panel includes Shield of Night, Super Agility, and a choice of infinite Star and Ice Arrows alongside a finite Blood Arrow stock. Super Agility lets her navigate high-level floors and maintain range while firing accurately, while star arrows provide a reliable default when blood is unavailable. Sparkling Star Shot produces a large celestial projectile capable of finishing the Guardian Ape after Alice has spent the fight controlling its lesser monsters. The source demonstrates these functions but does not give complete durations or cooldowns for every foundational skill. (Chapters 103, 163–165, and 214)

Ice archery and the Divine Requiem

Alice wins the legendary Bow of the Ice Queen from a Fate Gift Box. It increases Spirit, Agility, Mana, and ice damage and supplies Glacial Rain, a one-hour-cooldown barrage that deals double damage and applies Frostbite within range. After improvement, the bow is called Glacial Requiem and supports Ice Torrent, which rains freezing arrows over groups and slows or immobilizes targets. Alice uses that control to protect allies, manage swarms, and create openings, though resistant or intangible enemies can ignore the projectiles. (Chapters 68–69, 74, 102, 133, 165, and 178)

Alex later fuses Glacial Requiem with an extracted Divine Bow of the Angel to create the Divine Requiem of the Frost Angel. The Divine+ bow adds large Spirit, Agility, and Mana bonuses together with ice and divine damage boosts. Its Frost Barrage releases ice-and-divine arrows for five times Spirit damage, applies Frostbite to all enemies in range, and has a ten-minute cooldown. The weapon strengthens Alice's existing specialization rather than replacing it, remaining her identified signature bow through the Golden Star Festival. (Chapters 175–177, 189, and 207)

Blood Arrows

Blood Arrows Creation converts blood gathered from monsters into a finite ammunition stock. It cannot create an arrow when insufficient blood is present, so Alice often uses star or ice attacks until a battlefield supplies the necessary material. At acquisition, a Blood Arrow deals five times her usual damage; striking the Blood Valley Wraith's weak point produces a tenfold result. This resource loop becomes especially effective against bleeding groups, where successful hits and fallen monsters supply more blood for subsequent arrows. (Chapters 100–104 and 165)

The arrows become Alice's principal single-target threat. They damage enemies that resist other projectile types, explode against some targets, and can instantly kill a player when they land on the head. Their power does not remove the need for accuracy or inventory: Alice loses an advancement-task bonus by using a non-blood arrow, and she deliberately withholds the limited ammunition while testing Aurelia's other defenses. Her use therefore combines lethal force with management of when the material cost is justified. (Chapters 115–118, 154, 178–179, 198–199, and 214–215)

Space Arrows and Arrow Black Hole

The Talent Evolution Fruit adds a second Star Archer effect: Alice can transform a Star Arrow into a Space Arrow after a three-second charge and gains the artifact-level Arrow Black Hole skill. Space Arrows distort the air and reality along their path, disintegrating some monsters and severely damaging bosses. The required charge is a meaningful weakness against fast opponents, and the first use occurs while Berserk Frenzy has removed Alice's judgment, demonstrating that the talent's new power and the fruit's temporary side effect are separate conditions. (Chapters 221, 229, and 230)

Arrow Black Hole activates through a Space Arrow and creates a rapidly expanding spatial vortex. Against Infernos, it grows to roughly car size, absorbs attacks and debris, lasts twenty seconds, and has a one-hour cooldown. Alice cannot direct its pull after activation and is not immune; in an enclosed arena, she and her allies must cling to the environment to avoid being drawn in. She concludes that future use requires greater distance, making the ability an extraordinary but indiscriminate finisher rather than a safe routine shot. (Chapter 224)

Tactical range, perception, and latest state

Alice fights by taking elevated or distant positions, identifying vulnerable targets, and switching ammunition according to armor, elemental response, and available blood. A Mutated Eye of the Spider necklace later detects monsters within one hundred meters, improving her awareness, but chaotic crowds can prevent it from isolating a hidden attacker. Blade Arrows give her another piercing option on the upper tower floors. These tools support her role without erasing dependence on clear lines of fire and room to reposition. (Chapters 154, 164–165, 198–199, 207, and 231)

Before Alex leaves for the Dragon Bloodline Trial, he shares extracted attributes with Alice and Aurelia so they can continue developing independently. Alice is later present at the Fox Tribe training grounds, but the corpus supplies no new formal level, talent rank, or named technique after level 336. In the epilogue, Alex arranges angelic and dragon bloodlines for all five wives, granting extreme longevity and graceful aging. The text does not identify Alice's specific bloodline, its mechanics, or whether she retains every earlier combat skill on Earth. (Chapters 224–245, 458, and 512)
