Biography

Selection at Floating Cloud City

Xiao Kuangyun arrives at the Xiao Clan under the pretext of selecting disciples for the Xiao Sect, but uses that authority to pursue women and settle whims. Yun Che manipulates the selection, exposes the visitors to humiliation, and protects Xiao Lingxi from Kuangyun's designs. The young master's arrogance leaves the branch clan fractured, while his own later importance dwindles as the people he dismissed rise beyond the Xiao Sect. (Chapters 22–31, 193–215, and 1993)

Appearance and personality

Kuangyun is richly dressed and carries the pampered bearing of a protected sect heir. Lustful, vain, and vindictive, he mistakes borrowed institutional power for personal superiority and is easily steered through flattery and desire. (Chapters 22–31)

Abilities and cultivation

He has the cultivation and resources expected of an Xiao Sect young master, but shows little discipline or exceptional combat talent. His guards and family name pose the real danger during his visit to Floating Cloud City. (Chapters 22–31)

• Xiao Juetian is his father and source of authority.
