Meng Cangji is the Chief Lord of the Nine Dream Halls, father of Meng Xuanjue, and maternal grandfather of Meng Jianxi.

Biography

The chief lord against a regent's favoritism

Meng Cangji stands at the summit of Dreamweaver's internal hierarchy beneath Meng Kongchan. When the Divine Regent's devotion to the returned Meng Jianyuan threatens Meng Jianxi's succession, Cangji joins the Dream Lords in pressing back, transforming a family grievance into a confrontation involving nearly all of the kingdom's core power. His presence cows Jianxi even though the prince remains the rightful Divine Son. Later, at the Pure Land, Cangji watches Jianxi place concern for “Brother Yuan” above jealousy and begins to recognize that his grandson may have abandoned the succession struggle voluntarily rather than been defeated in it. Appearance and personality

Meng Cangji is an old, wizened man whose rank and soul pressure command reverence from Dreamweaver's princes and Dream Lords. He is stern, politically forceful, and fiercely protective of his daughter and grandson. His latest response to Jianxi also shows capacity for reflection when the younger man's motives no longer fit the factional story Cangji expected. (Chapters 2079–2082 and 2161)

Abilities and cultivation

As Chief Lord of the Nine Dream Halls and the number one figure below the Divine Regent, Cangji is one of Dreamweaver's greatest soul cultivators. He commands multiple Dream Lords and enough institutional force that even Meng Kongchan must consider their united objection, though the Regent's final authority still supersedes his. (Chapter 2082)

  • Meng Jianxi: Cangji is his grandfather and one of the strongest defenders of his position as Dreamweaver Divine Son. (Chapters 2079–2082 and 2161)
  • Meng Kongchan: He is the Regent's father-in-law and most powerful subordinate, capable of opposing but not overruling him. (Chapter 2082)
  • Meng Xuanjue: Cangji is her father and lends institutional weight to her campaign for Jianxi's succession. (Chapters 2079–2082)
